It's really useful when they announce it to the world. They should pick 3 days at random and do this and in a few months pick 3 again and do it again. The worst offenders just park and sit out the 3 days. Many others work their way around the scales. If they did random checks they could get more of the trucks off the road that have no business running and make a real safety difference.

Or, as in my case, the rear brakes are just at the point where one inspector might chastise me for "getting my money's worth" and let me go and another might shut me down on the spot!
I was planning on having them done around the middle of the month....now I have an appointment to get them done tomorrow when I get back from this trip.
