I have been in the Expedited business for a year now I learned a great deal.I now that I need a AUX-GED,I am leaning towards the RIGMASTER.I have a T-2000 Kenworth E-unit with FEDEX C.C. I have yet to see a RIGMASTER on a T-2000 anywere. Are they worth the cost/ How dependable are they? How hard/easy are they to maintain? I operate in N.y,N.j,N.E area( not by choise ) I don't Idle my truck now,I don't want a ticket,Can you run the unit and not be ticketed in N.Y?
As the states tighten up the idle laws will the cost of a unit jump?
Is it wise to by now or wait? Any information will be greatly appreciated}> }> }> }> }>

The Rigmaster is one of the best gensets as far as things I have heard about it. It is around $7k new, so some big bucks. Very much legal in NY or anywhere else. It is easy to use and maintain, has a small Perkins diesel that draws its fuel right from your truck tanks. OOIDA estimates average owner spends well over $2k a year idling, so over the 5 year course of truck ownership it would more than pay for itself especially if one includes wear on the truck engine from idling. Would I have one? Yes. Why don't I have one? I just don't have $7k sitting around right now to plop down on one. Unlucky me. Try to go to the bank and ask for a loan for one- they will look at you like you have lobsters crawling out of your ears, even with the facts on paper. Gensets are best financed through the purchase of a new truck, where you can hide it.

I had one of these units several years ago and was not impressed. They may be ok in a small sleeper...72" or less. I had a 72" with one and it couldn't keep up in any extreme temps. We have a genset from Jacksonville Fl. with a roof air. What a difference. That unit will shoot ice cubes even in 120 degree heat in Pheonix. We like ours a lot. On a 99 KW and no service issues so far. Cost is around $6,000 depending on roof unit.

Why not try a 2000watt inverter, about 4-5 deep cycle batt. and a small a/c unit designed for the marine industry, a small electric heater and your in. All for the price of about 3,000. The batt's will give you about 8-10 hours of service with the option of sure power. I do have further information on this if interested, you can email me at [email protected]. I have information from a companies who makes a 2000w inverter with shore power.

Rigmaster is a good unit. 12,000 btu heat, 20,000 btu A/C, 4000 KW, and a 40 Amp DC charge to the batteries, and heat the engine.
You don't need an extra $7000.00, I know of companies that will help you get a Rigmaster for about $240.00 /month.
Output temps @ the discharge vent average around 43-45F degrees for units we tested. OOIDA/RIGMASTER have a rebate program. Call us, we can help. 800.837.3900
