I make it a point, when I'm on the road, to speak with as many expediters as possible. I've gotten some good information about places to sit (truck stops, WalMart, etc...), places to eat, places not to eat, etc... I try to listen to what everyone has to say, digest that information, and store it away for future use.

I have also had several people stop and ask me what it is that I do, and how do I like the job. People have stopped and stated that they we're thinking of signing on with Panther, and just wanted to "verify" some of the things that they have been told. I always try to answer everyones questions in a general manner, and throw in the Panther stuff last.

The reason I'm writing this, is because of the increasing number of drivers I've spoken with in the last month or so, who, it seems, have made it a point, and can't wait to tell me, what a bad choice I've made, signing on with Panther, or, need to read off their "I hate Panther and here's why" list.

My first question to these drivers has always been, ... "and when did you run with Panther?" ... Guess what. None of them have!

If you haven't experienced it first hand, you really don't have a right to comment on how a company treats their owner/operators or the o/o's drivers. Telling me that you have a friend who heard something, just doesn't cut it. I make it a point not to bash other expediting companies or drivers because they didn't make the same decisions I made. I wonder how many people have been thinking about going into this business, and have spoken with one of these drivers at a truck stop or at a gas station, and have been totally turned off, because of one persons attitude.

...stepping down from my soap box now. Have a great day! Be safe!

I have always been amused by people who have solid, loudly voiced opinions which are totally untainted by any facts.

Well said and on the mark. There is no perfect carrier for every person and no perfect person for every carrier. We each tend to support our respective carriers when talking to other folks, for who among us would continue to stay with a carrier that treated it's O/O's as terrible as some folks would have you believe?

It is amazing that the ones who complain the loudest about a company, have never driven for them.

Mike -
Truly an excellent post. Don't apologize for getting up on that soap box because you do a pretty darn good job up there. It sounds like you represent yourself and your company as a pro. Thanks for standing up for what is right, it's not always the easiest thing to do.
I wish you the best - Scott

If one has not worked first hand for a company why in the world would you tear it down? Have never worked for the Panther, have heard good and bad.

I choose to believe its a good company with a few bad business owners.

I can and have spoken from expierence on another.

If you are happy about your company than By All Means BRAGG. I have found the perfect fit for me for now. So let me Bragg thank you C & M for keeping me busy.

PS I could be busier.}>

Haha, Broom... way to shmooze :7

I agree to a large extent to what everyone is saying here. But I also respect a great deal of hearsay on EO, coming from drivers who never worked for certain companies. I heard complaints that TryHours didn't pay 100% of their FSC, and I confronted the recruiter about it... sure enough they don't.

I read about numerous companies and their policies from several ppl on here, and have made my opinions. If someone asks me about A or B companies, I'll tell em what I read or heard, but to take my word with a grain of salt cause I haven't driven for them personally.
