Good Afternoon,
We have been asked to help the KSP Post 04 in their investigation. You may have had some of your readers in the area over the weekend, and use dash cameras, if you would check your routes and help the detectives gather leads. Below is the information I received this afternoon.
State Police say they’re asking truck drivers to check their dash cam video from around that time.
(Bardstown, KY.) –Kentucky State Police Post 04 Detectives are conducting a death investigation in Nelson Co. On November 19, 2016 at approximately 7:54 EST KSP Post 4 in Elizabethtown was contacted by the Nelson Co. dispatch asking for assistance on a death investigation involving a Bardstown man who was out hunting with his juvenile grandson on a farm located off of Ed Brent Lane. Tommy Ballard (54) of Bardstown was pronounced dead at the scene by the Nelson Co. Coroner’s office after suffering a fatal gunshot wound. His juvenile grandson who was accompanying him is not believed to be involved or at fault in his grandfather’s death. KSP Detectives as well as investigators from the Nelson Co. Sheriff’s Dept. have actively been working the scene and the shooting is still under investigation. As an agency, anytime we have a death scene, we carefully gather and monitor the evidence and the facts as they are presented or as we discover them. There are numerous things which must be considered before a cause of death ruling is made as well as deciding on how to title an investigation. We are consistent on how we handle all death investigations before we determine the cause and before we decide if there is any criminal intent. At this time, this unfortunate incident is still labeled as a death investigation. We are asking the public to call KSP Post 4 with any information that anyone may have in regards to the death of Mr. Ballard at 270-766-5078. Specifically, we are looking for anyone who may have been traveling the Bluegrass Pkwy Saturday morning between the hours of 6:30 and 7:30 EDST in the area of the 21-25 mile marker, that may have observed any persons or vehicles on the roadway. KSP Post 4 will update with any information that can be disseminated as soon as we feel it is appropriate.
