I finally found a maker. I was talking to my daughters latest beau and he has a Ram 2500 dually P/U and vroom it starts up! I says hey How'd ya do that? so he shows me his remote switch...after about 20 minutes of jawin the truck shuts off...apparently it can be also programmed for the amount of idle time. Cool!! It is also or can be a security system as well. Cost him about 300 Can. installed.

Alot of your remote starters will work with diesel trucks.I have one made by Viper it has a turbo timer that will cool the turbo down before it shuts down, cold start function that will start it up every so many hours and a 1/4 mile range. The problem that seems to come around is most installers wont install a remote starter on a clutch vehicle because you have to by pass the neutral safety switch.

I use a code alarm. All of the remote start companys offer a time delay built into the unit and a good tech will make sure the delay is corrcet for you vehicle. I have a duramax and it needs no delay but a friends power stroke has a 20 second delay.

The truckm I have now has a remote start, I had noidea about it until after I bought it and I came in one morning and found it running with no keys, apparently it would start everytime the engine temp droped to like 100 degrees and the outside temp was below 30 degrees or somthing like that, I had to disconnect it. more trouble than it was worse, plus my neighbors were less than thrilled about it
