WHY? Can't they be included in the travel order?

IF we do 100 loads a day that require them and we have to PHONE in to get it....at say 3 minutes a call..that is 300 minutes or 5 hours of wasted dispatch time. We could ease up on dispatcher stress....:D and our stress as well as we are on hold listening to the Love Boat theme...*LOL*

I've had them included on some and not on others. It would make sense to standardize it IMNHO.

Yes on some, but the majority is not....and this isn't just Load 1...it is a thing with most carriers that I've heard from drivers...

Do we know if it is a standard question that is asked by dispatchers?

or perhaps, dispatchers are told that there is going to be a pick up number and that it will be called through later, but it is not called in.

That does not address the lack of NLM #'s....

All nlm loads have a pu #. With others it can vary and can be the customer not having the info. All Penskie loads should also have a number, I think they call it a routing number but not positive.

An AWB number would be great to have when you do an airport pick up. Its a requirement to know that number before they release the freight to you, and is standard practice for any airport pu around the country. It would be nice to have it in the load notes instead of having to call dispatch once we get to the shipper.

Agree. If dispatch made sure the pickup numbers were included [NLM, AWB, whatever we will need on arrival at shipper], it would save wasting phone time, ours and theirs.

Stress? From the Love Boat theme? Dude, try calling the Black Cats: 45 minutes listening to the same perky voice asking "Does your freight get crowded among others on a truck?" and other asinine Q&A on a 2 minute loop - by the time someone answers, you want to rip off their head, right?
Last time I called, it was Green Acres, and I was laughing when they answered. :)

I am checking into this. We have an interface with NLM so this may be something that can be mapped or programmed. I will check it out.

While we don't get them on a regular basis and we do have to call in, sometimes on the "special instructions" page that comes with each load over the QC you will find these numbers...but i think that only happens when it is brought to te attention of dispatch and they are supplied with it...Air bill #'s usually are found there also...

Thanks for your attention this John...

That is the thing..when we do get them..they can be anywhere...there should be a consistent place for them....
each dispatcher does their own thing...

Ok, we have made another system modification (hopefully this one goes better). The NLM and/or Active Aero numbers should now automatically populate our system when they come across. The field that they populate should now come across with the load information as reference number. This is replacing the commodity field that used to come across.
