Seasoned Expediter
Greetings from the Bronx, N.Y. I am gathering information
on the expediter segment of the trucking trade. I wonder
if I can get some information.
When you sign on to a company lease what are the term
limits. I get the impression that the lease can be broken at
any time. Is that true? Or, Does the lease bind you
contractually to a certain time period. And, if that is the
case, what is a tipical lease time period?
Secondly, Is it a good idea to purchase an older vehicle with
many miles and less cost. That is, in case you find you do not
like the profession.? Thanks. R.D. Bronx N.Y.

Typically, you'll see either an open ended lease or a self renewing one year lease agreement. In either case they are likely to have a clause wherin the leasor or leasee may cancel with two weeks notice, without cause or immediately with cause.

A gently used vehicle at a good price is often a safe bet, particularly in the expedite busy NYC region.
