I was hired for a local company out of Indiana, Pa 2 years ago as a "Local Driver" & sub contracted for another company, working from 7-5 M-F with weekends off. The company I work for has all regional drivers, along with myself being the "only local driver". When I was hired, The supervisor & myself agreed to my being a local driver due to personal reasons that are somewhat beyond my control.
2 months ago, I was involved in an auto accident (my own personal time), which placed me on Injury status time of return unknown, this due to the extent of my injuries. I just found out this week, that the company I work for "cancelled" their contract with the sub contracted company I was driving for. Now also, the company I do work for does not have anything local,,but has offered a regional position, even though they know the reasons as to why I can accept it.
What my basic question here is simply: Does anyone know if at all possible that whether I can collect unemployment since they do not have any local work for me? I was released by my Dr as of today 08-01-04 to go back to work full status w/o restrictions.
The reason(s) as to why I was hired directly as a "local only" driver is because I deal with Family Courts on a monthly basis, along with on/off schooling 5-10 classes/monthly, along with in the process of becoming an adoptive parent, which requires 1 parent to be with the child at all times. The company has known this from the start.
Any advice would be very helpful
Respectfully,
