An inside delivery is when you physically move the freight from your truck to where the customer wants it. This could involve a dock at an office building and the customer requests the freight be delivered to an office on the 44th floor. Or there may be no dock and you carry or use a cart to get the freight inside.
Inside deliveries usually incur an accessorial fee charged by the carrier.
A tricky inside delivery is one where the driver finds a street level dock in a downtown area that will accommodate the height and length of his/hers truck. The driver then unloads the freight and delivers it to a building 2 blocks away using a series of elevators and tunnels.
