Quallcom shutting down & other questions

Occasionally our great new Quallcom has decided to shut down and then start itself up again. It takes forever and is a real pain when you are available on CLINK as load opps don't come through. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Is there a way to update your logs while you are still doing an activity? As in fueling. Or do you have to wait until your status changes? We like to update our logs as we do things, not have to go back later.
We have our screen brightness turned down as low as it will go and at night it is still too bright. Is there anyway to turn it down even more?
And lastly, does anyone actually like the GPS? We have quit using the piece of junk.

There are I think 5 levels of brightness including off. Push the brightness button and wait for the scale to show up and then push and pause and one of your pushes should 'fade to black' as they say in the movies. All the buttons will still be lighted up but the screen will be off.

Startup is WAY too slow. I suspect they are using a cache of Intel 8086 processors without benefit of the 8087 co-processors. It's one of those things that looks pretty to anyone who never has to use it and sells well apparently from the gee whiz how cool looking factor but in the real world for real users it's nothing to write home about.

I wish instead of getting these overly expensive toys we'd fixed the problems with the antiquated systems and procedures that are still in use with the overly expensive toy. That would have been more beneficial to everyone. I don't have the correct ear though to get that reviewed and implemented.

We only use the GPS for locals,or if i can't find where we're going on our Garmin Nuvi.Call Saftey about your unit going off to soon. When you had it installed did they ask you, how long did you want it to stay on ,after you turn off your ignition off? We have ours set for four hours, then it will shut it self off.It can be set for longer time. Our's takes 3-4 minutes to re-boot.We have had two load offers come in AFTER the 10 minute respond time. The last time it happened,i was reading the load offer, when all of the sudden i got the sorry notification. But hey we only pay $35.00 a week for this new toy:rolleyes:

We get the reefer alarm alot,It is especially annoying when you just started the unit up. Off course we're out of range we just started it up ,to get in range.I usually start our reefer 1-2 hours before our pick up,depending if it's tval, our temp asure. But the best message we have recieved was, please do an 08 if your not moving. We where traveling down the highway doing 65mph

We had similar problem yesterday, just shut down then re-started and we missed several load opps. Yes, frustrating and no reason why?

Ours shuts down and restarts whenever it wants. We can be on a run or sitting in a truck stop idling. So now we have to stay available on the phone or we could miss an op while it is doing its thing.
Dispatch has not been able to poll us while on a run for 10 days now. So we have to send a location message every 2-3 hours.
We called c link and were told to try unplugging the power for 10 minutes so it could reset its self and see if that would fix it. It didn't. Since we are at home we unplugged it for an hour to see if that will reset it. Will find out on the next run.
It seems like they should have made sure these things we reliable and had the bugs worked out of them before putting them in our trucks.

Very poor trouble shooting prior to product launch. This system should not have been accepted in the condition it is right now. Someone dropped the ball to say the least. It is more than possible to field a system that WORKS right out of the box. If I were FedEx I would be asking for a refund or a total rework.

It is not any faster than the old system, not any more accurate at locating trucks. Not worth what FedEx or we are paying for it. We will have to live with it, nothing will be done. It is what it is.

Nothing really new in this system, of any real value. Just a little more fancy.

The media thingy is alright, great idea. Not worth the extra money thought.

Heh, I was home (Columbus Express) last week... they called with a load opp picking up in Chicago... the pay was ridiculous, so I automatically turned it down.. then thought, wait a sec.. that offer was plain stupid.... by this time, they were wanting to know why I didn't want it, as I was only 43 miles from pick up.....

Um...... what? You might want to 'ping' my truck again... how can it show me 400 miles away....

I've gotten used to the "you're running behind", and "please send 08 if sitting still" messages when I"m 60 miles down the road, but that's the furthest it's ever been off.

Even the dispatcher was confused, she confirmed the system showed me available at Home in the COL express center, but still showed 43 miles deadhead to pickup.
