I was talking with a friend who left trucking about 5 years ago, after 20 odd years as a long haul o&o to do something else. It hasn´t worked out for him, so he wants to get back into OTR trucking. He was telling me that he has applied to several companies, and is being turned down for not having driven 1 out of the last 3 years. He was never in expediting, though he has applied to a couple expediting companies also. He has a clean driving record and can provide references as to where he has worked. According to him he is being told the reason for the turndowns are "for insurance". How can that be? A recent school graduate can be insured immediately by a carrier. Is there any way around this dilemma? Please answer this one.

The insurance reasons are most likely correct.

Stand up for what you believe in, don't do something just because everyone else is!

As long as he or she can show that they have at least 1 year in a tractor or a certificate from a driving school, Tri-State would be able to qualify your friend in a tractor.
