qualified?

Seasoned Expediter
I had a part-time job from Nov. '02 to Jan. '06. I quit because my work schedule conflicted with my school schedule. I earned a bachelor's degree in July '06 and have been looking for a job since then. I have no convictions and I haven't gotten a ticket since Nov '02. If I get a class b w/HAZMAT, will I be qualified to drive?

Thanks

ghl, welcome! The answer to your question is: yes, you would be qualified to drive. But there are a lot of other questions, too, especially whether you would be happy doing this kind of work, because it isn't a 9 to 5, Monday through Friday kind of job. If you haven't been reading the fora here, you have a lot to learn, lol - but you've found a good place to learn it, at least. (And you thought graduation meant an end to studying, I'll bet!)
Were you considering driving a van, or something larger? Alone, or with a partner? As an O/O, or for someone else? That's just the tip of the iceberg, as far as questions go - you'll think of a brazillion more, before long, but if you read the questions & answers here for the past year or so, you'll have a clearer idea of what you need to know. Luck to you!:)

GHL;

The qualification requirements and process varies from company to company. Most will require at least one year experience in the type of vehicle you intend to operate. Some may require two.

As to the "gaps" in your employment history, surely you would be able to document your time in college - transcripts, a copy of your diploma, that sort of thing.

I wish you luck in your expedite adventure.

Thanks,
