Qualcomm Stand

Where can I find the qualcomm mount that is a post-type? It looks kind of like a laptop stand. A friend of mine had one in the truck he bought, but won't part with it. I'm going to try to make a laptop stand out of it. I know, they sell laptop stands all over. I'm too cheap to spend that kind of cash, and I can usually fabricate anything I need. Any ideas? Or maybe somebody with a used laptop stand they'd part with?

For that matter, anybody have an idea for a tv shelf in a 28" Freightliner extended cab? I'm about ready to chuck the passenger's seat so I can have a litttle room for modern conviences in here. No fridge and TV, or room to change clothes, stand up......

PJ`s Body & Welding has been an installer of Qualcomm equipment since 1989. They make the kind of stand you describe. I believe it was about $90 about 3 years ago(last time I was there)

They are in Canton Oh,but I believe they also have a location in the Detroit area.

You can call them at 216.478.2507

I found a PJ's fabricating in Canton. Same phone number, diffrent area code. Their website mentions nothing about QC. Is this the same place?

Most likely the same place. The area codes got scrambled back in the mid-90's.

Yes, P.J.'s is the place. I met a driver yesterday that had been there recently. He suggested a modification that P.J. now also sells. It's the post you talk about and another post that rises above the Qualcomm unit that supports a flat platform, on which a laptop can sit. The Qualcomm unit sits at an angle below and swivels so driver or passenger can use it. (Driver use in a stationary truck, of course.)

At the truck show in Louisville, an exhibitor displayed a wide array of brackets and arms and platforms for mounting various devices in cars and trucks. I was very impressed by the quality of these devices but disappointed to learn the company made nothing specifically for Qualcomm units. However, their home office is working on just that and I would expect to see some very cool Qualcomm mounts coming from them in the near future. The company is National Products in Seattle, WA. The product name is RAM Mounts.

They have distributors around the country. The one we talked to at show boasted an inventory of 2,000 items. They can mount everything from cell phones to laptops to PDAs to camcorders, in just about any configuration you can imagine. Check them out.

I did find RAM's site earlier. I'm trying to go with a cheaper option, but they did have a wide array of options that looked good. I'm going to try PJ's the next time I am in that area.

Thank you "neighbor", I seem to be in Romulus alot, so i'll have to stop in. Now I've just gotta figure out where the TV goes.

I suppose the TV is the least of my worries now that the truck won't START! At least I'm at home when it decided to do this. I guess i'm not surprised, considering the truck overall. It's becoming a headache, and it was giving me crap (flashing lights, buzzers, flase guage readings) all week long.
