Anyone had any experience with this product? This is where you get a text on your phone telling you that you have a message on your Qualcomm. I was just reading info on it and I was looking for some feedback.

Used it at panther. Was helpful when out of truck...etc. you know in a TV room, dinner and all.

We had a pilot program for a while when we were at Tri State. we liked it because usually the loads were offered over the qc before the call so we had a chance to look at it and could make an educated decision on profitability of the load verses a split second decision.

I'd be interested in it for myself and my drivers. Have had instances where loads were lost because the drivers were out of the truck, eating, doing laundry, etc. and dispatch didn't call.

Does the message get sent for any QC message? If it were a fleet message, dispatch could get a few needless calls.

If dispatch didn't call...why would they send your driver a text?

try this way...if dispatch doesn't call...how does a driver lose a load?

Got me puzzled?

Fedex uses that. It tells you there's a load offer on the QC but nothing else. Panther has a system that QC offers as an option. It costs $4.95 a month from QC and Panther charges $8.67 a month on top of their already overpriced QC profit center to make even more money off their operators rather than giving it as part of the package.

The Panther system gives details on the load in the message such as pieces, weight, pay etc. but unless they have finally implemented changes I argued for in council for two years it lacks things like Hazmat Y/N and others that should be there while including things not needed for a decision.

The plain message at least let's you know to hike to the truck. The QC programmed system that gives you all the details is great, especially when you have someone in charge who will listen and set it up right.

We don't get our loads offered thru the QC...so I can't see the practicality of the service....Last thing I need is more text messages to pay for...

Had it at panther, I see no added value from it as long as dispatch offers loads via the phone. In a company that sends load offers via qc then it can be a help. The way we are set up at this time it would not be money well spent imho.

Looking at the thread about it in the Panther forum it looks to be pretty quirky.

It's not worth having for the extra cost as some say. The phone works just as good for no extra cost. Some of our drivers had it and didn't want it any longer. As they would be out of service and get loads sent to them at 2 am. They all said they hated getting bugged during their time off.

unless the way loads are dispatched will change i dont see much benefit. only possible benefit would be if you are in a area will bad cell phone reception sometimes a text will get through. had that happen before.
