Pro Numbers

What is the difference between the pro numbers that start with 2xxxxxxx.x and 5xxxxxxx.x?

Prior to this year I used to do about 90% of the ones starting with 2. This year has changed. I do about 80% of the 5's.

I was told the ones that start with a 5 are manually generated. Don't know if that is true but that is what a dispatcher told me.

I know that the 5's can be tracked on FedEx.com by anyone but the 2's need to have a customer log in. The wife will "follow along" when I do a 5 run but the 2's she can't do.

Got to be more to it than that tho.....

I asked my CC the same question. I was told that the pro's starting with 2xxxxxxxxxxx are calls made directly to Custom Critical and the ones with 5xxxxxxxxxxxx were out sourced to us from FedEx Freight. At this point I am thankful for any good paying load regardless of the source.:)

Got me thinking, and went and looked to see where the loads are picking up, and this is my take on it.
Since I picked up a bunch of 2xxxx loads at the same places (like ppg) but the 5xxxx loads are always somewhere else, makes me think that the 2xxx are contract loads and 5xxxx are loads that customers calls.
Mygia, I also am happy with all the loads I get, I am on a flat rate, so it doesn't matter if it is 2xx or 5xx. The longer the better. Was just trying to figure it out. Keeps my mind occupied during all this time I am waiting for a load. :)

Pros that start with 2xxxxxxx CAN be tracked on fedex.com.
I tracked many starting with 2 (which will eventually become 3 once 2999999 is passed. The loads that can't be seen with details regardless of the pro number are loads that must have a log in and password and the customer decides that. If you go to tracking and a protected account comes up you only see the pro number in small numbers and no details, doesn't matter what the pro number is. I'm the one who discovered tracking loads online over 2 years ago, and spread the word here and talking to drivers. I know what I'm talking about...

You have only know about tracking pro numbers for two years that has been going on forever.

When we were at the office for training we asked about the numbers the loads that start with 2 are on the old system the numbers that start with 5 are on the new system. One day maybe they will all become start with a 5 or on up.

There are two software systems running at this time. The new systems is pretty awesome to watch as it appears to be more web based while the old system looked more like the old AS400 screens black based with very little color. Slowly all of different divisions with FCC are moving to the new system for imputing load information.

Yes the capability to track has been going on forever but I don't track just MY loads. I can track every load. As far as I know within the past 2 1/2 years I never talked to anybody who knew they could track EVERY load. The dispatchers didn't even know a driver could do that. I'm the first that I know of that went online, got rid of the last digit (before the decimal point) added the next number, and kept replacing the last digit until the next load comes up. It takes time do do this, and there are ways to manually do this faster by using the keyboard a certain way. Once I saw a load online, it wasn't dispatched yet. I had a less than 75, No other <75's were in the area. The pick up needed to be done within 1.5 hours. They dispatched a team 200 miles away that paicked it up 4 hours later. I called, gave FedexCC the run number and asked them why I didn't get the run. It took two weeks for the cimputer tech to find a glitch in the software that was adding my empty miles on the way home and disqualified me from taking the run even though I was home for 2 days. They had to make a manual change to the software that stopped this. The dispatcher wanted to know how I knew about the run number and all its details whcih then I told her. She was very suprised, and called it "sneaky". I told her I do what I have to do and told her if it wasn't for me doing this the system would have kept screwing drivers out of runs. She agreed.
