Diane and I have never had to hunt for a parking place in the front lot of the Ontario, CA, TA before but we did on Wednesday (10/19/11). I was surprised to see every space full when we arrived. (Straight trucks and vans are allowed there. Semis and bobtail tractors are run off by security).
The usual sight is a couple to a dozen FedEx Custom Critical trucks and a truck or two or three from another carrier or two or three. This time was different. Represented in equal numbers were FedEx Custom Critical, Panther and Express-1. One van each was also there from Bolt, Prestige, Landstar and Load-1.
This photo, snapped on a foggy morning, shows 15 of the trucks. Others were scattered elsewhere in the lot. The only other place I have seen that many expediter trucks together is the Expedite Expo.
One snapshot on a Wednesday morning does not make a trend make but the sight left me wondering why so many trucks from so many carriers were seen at a place that is usually dominated by FedEx Custom Critical and graced by few others. We left in the afternoon for a Thursday pick up. About half of the trucks had departed by then.
