Thought you all might have some fun with this one. :D

White House opens door to tolls on interstate highways, removing long-standing prohibition - The Washington Post

MORE taxes! Have to pay for subsidized/free bus rides. Why don't they just take ALL of our money, then give us back what they think we need? It would save a LOT of time and paper work! We already pay taxes for these roads. Use 100% of THAT money first, THEN we can see if we need more.

They already used it. 600M for a healthcare web site that today they just figured out doesn't work right and will need another 120 million to fix it. Mind you, that is just the first half.
Toll roads are likely coming. Should do wonders for the economy. We have to make sure "we are doing our fair share". Of course, there will likely be subsidies and exemptions, just like say, I don't know... healthcare.

Then, of course, they will REQUIRE transponders, that track you ever move as well, except for the freeloaders who don't pay their fair share for the cost of a bus ride, or on the "light rail" etc etc etc.

They will have to use transponders in many areas. If not, traffic problems in quite a few areas. But you are correct, most of the money will go for "toll authorities", free or near free buses, and of course the free light rail programs. Of course you can take comfort in the fact there will be less pollution if people would use the buses and trains. They will leave out the fact it is a big smoke cloud at plazas as vehicles line up to pay a toll.

AND, you can feel OH SO COMFORTABLE that they ALWAYS know EXACTLY where you are, when the time comes.

Kentucky state law requires toll collection to cease when enough tolls have been collected to pay off highway construction bonds. There are currently no toll roads in the Bluegrass state.

Permanent on-going toll collection is highway robbery.

Unless I can see the ongoing maintenance I agree. Some bridges require heavy monitoring and maintenance. The lake Ponchatrain causeway in Louisiana and the Golden Gate in San Fransisco come to mind. Outside of a few of those when I drive over a toll road that's beat to death I agree it's robbery.

Which is why Illinois collects the toll of all drivers passing through on I-80 at the 294 junction. They've not on a toll road, just passing by at the junction to one. It's to rob every motorist that passes by.

You got that right. The massive amount Illinois collects from those tolls. Where does it all go?

By adding on tolls, new laws, more corruption, more rumors, more investigations, more dishonesty, unfair laws and the evermore moral decay by making good folks look bad and causing more stupid hate crime laws that don't make sense because everyone is offended these days is ( The best way for government officials to keep their jobs forever because the confusion is so overwhelming,no one including our court system can functions correctly). PS- this is the same procedure the Viet Cong used on our troops to end the war,,,,many attacks in over dozens of places occurred and our guys and generals were overwhelmed so bad, they did not know where to fight first --thus despair and confusion lost our ability to fight....now look at our government officials and see if they are not doing the same thing the VC did to our military in the end.......

Bring on the Toll Roads,,,straws anyone..........................
