President Bush pushes Vet Bill

In his radio address yesterday, President Bush made another push for congress to pass the new Veterans Appropriations Bill. While I'm sure the timing is because of Veteran's day, it seems to me this bill is a good thing. From what I've heard, the major premise of it is providing better care to disabled vets, of whom I have some in my family.

The hope is Congress will pass it before they take their Thanksgiving break in four days.

Thoughts?

We certainly need to provide proper care to veterans. Hopefully this will do the job as it should be done.

I already wrote my letter to the worthless Levin

BUT

.... as I was visiting a vet from Iraq this morning, I was floored by her comment - "if everyone who says they care about the us vets, then they would help us get the tax system off our backs". She was referring to the taxes she has had to pay while being in the military, the taxes that the vets who are retired have to pay and the taxes that she is now faced with still being active but disabled. I think her point is that money is nice but it would make life a lot better for those who are active, retired or disabled if they didn't have to deal with income taxes. I guess since I gave her my last Fair Tax book, she has become a very big supporter of it.
