Power Service products

I have been in the habit of buying Power Service additives in Walmarts. The price of a quart was generally about $5.40. Over the last month I noticed that in the automotive section of various Walmarts there is now an empty space where Power Service was sold. I have seen this in about 10-12 different Walmarts.

I then asked a Walmart rep in Kanapolis NC what happened to the Power Service products. He told me that Walmart Corporate pulled Power Service out of all of the stores because teenagers were buying the PS products and getting high from sniffing the fumes..

Hell of a generation coming up if that is what they do to get high. When I went to High School about a thousand years ago we thought it was pretty neat if somehow we could get a six pack on a Friday night.

yes, everything is pretty much being taken off the shelves at walmart or any other store. To get any meds like sinus and stuff you have to grab a card and see the head pharmasis (sp) and he has to ok you to get the meds. Its sad what this world is comming too kids using anything to get high now a days. This has really became a problem, i'm 20 years old and dont remember stuff being this bad and i've grown up in the Metro Detroit area.

Sad...

I bought a couple of cases of the big jugs of PS at an oil company I was at picking up a run. It was under $9 and treats 300 gallons. I think the smaller bottle treats 100 gallons. When this runs out I'm going to try Tractor Supply to restock.

But if I remember right, Walmart is the largest seller of guns in the country.

I used to occasionaly find a case of Power Service at Sam's club for a good price, but they'll probably pull it from there too. I started using howe's lubricator anyway.

Sorry but Wal-Mart need to pull a lot of stuff of their shelves if this is a legitimate reason. Start with spray paint, Bug spray, 3M adhesive, lighter fluid, and a lot of other items that is used by these idiots.

This is a perfect example of lets protect the children by limiting access to products that consumers use. How many products will continue to be limited or taken off the market because of the stupidity of the parents not to police their own kids.

Sudafed is a different situation, it is a component of a drug, not the actual drug. The manufacturer did not want to limit the access and would rather sell ten cases to a meth lab than to restrict it at the counter.

NOW I HAVE NO REASON LEFT TO GO INTO WALMART,, Please let your manager know as I will.... I drive a truck you use to cover me from A-to-Z now you limit my freedom.

If I no longer go there again NO SWEAT OFF MY BACK.. As I really dispise what they have done to our Country and the local Economies. I remember in my last business cause I was not living in the exact community I was told I lost to a local, now everyone buys everything from Walmart in the Rural Areas of America so wheres the local = Out Of Business so much for supporting local business owners and the local Photgrapher that I was competing against was nothing more than a Mom holding a Camera, more than often I got a call with only a few days left to schedule an ENTIRE Little League to PLEASE come photohgraph our players cause the MOM SCREWED UP or the film was lost or she drank the $ before the Photographs were delivered etc.... TRUE STORIES BUT NO ONLY MOMS other crooks just an example...

I think the teenage drug problem is just as much the parents fault as it is the kids. I see alot of parents let their kids do whatever when they are little then when they are 16 the parents want to be strict and whip the kids. Then the kids scream child abuse and do drugs and sleep around. When all they needed was some good butt blisterings with a leather belt growing up. I was to scared to do something like that. I wasn't scared of the cops I was scared the cops would let me go and my dad would beat my tail.

Amen arkjarhead.... I know we're on 'non-politically-correct' ground here, but I was just discussing that the other day. I was at our local twp trustees meeting, where one of the trustees is a former teacher of mine. He was talking about how the crime rate in school went up, when they took away the right to paddle. Now mind you, this was one of those nice teachers who hardly ever used a paddle, but there was the THREAT of it. I told him I got my share, and it didn't hurt me any in the long run.. I didn't need therapy or bring a gun to school etc. Plus, I knew if I got a paddling at school, I got another when I got home...LOL..

My wife and I have been told that we are too restrictive with our kids, but hey, I'm young enough to still remember what it was like. I'll never forget one teacher telling me about a report my daughter turned in when she was in junior high on drug use. She listed all the normal reasons why she wouldn't do drugs, and the last statement was, "Besides, my dad would KILL me!!".. the teacher loved it..LOL.

My daughter is now 19, in college, and still Above the Influence.

My son is 16, will be a high school junior, and is Above the Influence.

Both are responsible, have good morals, are active in church, and were both peer counselors.

They're still a pain in the butt sometimes, but I feel like we are successful parents.

So far, I think we'll stick to what works.

.....in that regard a few weeks ago some teens went to boozin and cruisin' and thought it would be fun to shoot out some car windows at used car lots. since they weren't 21 yet they had to settle for bb rifles. well the first was not breaking the windows so they went back and got the moere powerful rifle. they got out to take some target practice at a car lot, stripped the rifle from the packaging, left the bag on the ground' loaded up and fired away. after breaking everything in site they left. they also left the bag and the container that had held the bb's and the bag contained the creditcard receipt.

Back to the power service I have been stressing on this for some time. I was getting it at ATwoods for about $9 ,for the big bottle, or TA for $11 or WalMart for $13, now walmart and atwoods both pulled it from the shelves. So TA is charging $16. With such a wide range of pricing it seems there should be a source where we could get a fair price regularily. I have an old truck that is hooked on the stuff. Not a teen yet but getting there.

Ten years ago the sniffing was a bad problem with additives they would soak rags and walk around huffing, called it "tolly rags" just a bunch of brain dead teens trying to get their motors strarted.

Hey all,
Could someone explain what the Power Service is and what it does? I have a 2000 Freightliner FL80. I'm always on the lookout for something to help her out.
Thanks

PS is an additive you put in your fuel tank. It adds about 4 cetane points to the fuel and gives an increase in mpg that can be as much as 10%. I'd look for more like 4-6% increase. On an 8mpg truck that would push it to 8.3-8.5 mpg.

It's hard for me to tell what, if any, benefit I get from additives, because I idle the truck a lot. I do notice a smoother sound from the engine since I first got in the truck tho. And maybe a slight increase in pickup.
