Anybody out there have any experience with the Hartline Porta shower? Is that the only model out there? I recently went to thier website, and they advertise that you can use it anyplace you can stand up. Í wonder if you could use it in a camper van and shower kneeling down, as well as in your truck cab standing up. From my military days, I know you don´t need alot of water to get clean.

Lou, I was all over their web site a while back too and was thinking seriously about getting one but I too would like to speak to someone who has it. Hope someone answers this one for us. DD

We saw a portable shower in a TA one day and decided that might be nice. But we are some really cheap people. We decided to make our own.
Here is how we did ours:
Bought: (about $10-$15 for everything at Wal-mart)
1 camp shower(basically a water bag with a hose and nozzle)
1 hoola hoop
1-2 shower curtain
1 package of shower rings
1 rubbermaid type tub (big enough to stand or kneel in)
1 load bar for a small truck
Put it all together and have fun.
You can warm up water in sun. When using put water high enough so you dont need to kneel:+

Better idea that beats all that-granted it's pricy at $300.00-thats the one at the T/A, see it at truckshower.com, you get a water tank, water heater for I think it's 6 gallons & you can heat it up with power from a 12 volt outlet-use it in or out of your truck-it's stands 6 feet tall. Later, Bob.

Was lookin back thru old posts and noticed your questions.

We own one of the Hartline showers and love it. Short of this sounding like an ad, we have plenty of room to stand and shower in it in our sleeper. I put a small d ring in one of our screws in the top of our sleeper and it holds the top fine.

Our concern was going to be how hot the water would get. We bought the shower at the Louisville Truck Show, filled it and plugged it in before seeing Charlie Daniels. Let it continue to heat thru the night, and the next morning the water was actually too hot for my wife! Timing is everything for temp control.

The big positive is that if you've delivered somewhere on Friday that doesn't have a truckstop close by, and you just want to hang out there for the weekend, you've got your own shower.

My wife and I can both do a "Navy" shower with about 2.5-3 gals, so the 6 gals is fine. The downside, the nozzle is directly over your head. My wife finds that she would like some sort of hand held nozzle.

All in all, a great product.
