Plywood floor and e track mounting

Hello all, just wondering if anyone had some suggestions on installing some e track and plywood on my floor. I have a 05 E350 extended van. It has the econo cargo kit. It has the e track on the sides and the plastic roof and sidewalls, with the vinyl mat the entire length. I seen dreamers floor with the recessed e track in it. I wanted to cover the area from bulkhead to just before the rear doors. Which is approximately 128". Just wondering about the fasteners to use. Wheather to recess the heads and would I need to remove the vinyl mat that came with the truck. Thanks.

I have done it a few different ways , I always take the padding up.
I have siliconed the plywood to the metal floor, this worked great there was no fastners to worry about. I used 2x4's and 2x2's to block pallets in. I carried a cordless drill and screwed them into the floor. The other way I installed a hardwood floor T & G to the floor and applied E-Track to the floor, this works nice but it is hard to keep the track clean.

Hey diamondusmc,

Actually the pics were of dieseldoctor's floor, but my van was similar. The type of fastener would be a sheet metal screw.. just double check that you're not drilling into any wiring, fuel lines, brake lines etc.

You will need to counter sink the heads below the surface of the flooring, so that skids won't catch on them when sliding.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies, they are greatly appreciated. I'm not the most creative with carpentry projects. All the input helps.

I don't know what area of country you are in but I have a freind who is an instructor at one of driving schools where I do some yapping now and then and he installs the type of layout in vans, sprinters and starights. If you are in the area, I know he can help you out in a very short period of time. If not and you would just like to talk it over with him, drop me a personal note on here and I will hook you up with him. I have some personal advice/experince I can share with you as well but I am bit timid about that at this point so I would rather just talk directly with you if you are interested. The fellow I am recommending does this as a side business. He is also a wood worker.
