If you plan on cancelling any time soon, they don`t make it easy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Called to cancel today, Only because car is taken off road for winter, not as a protest.

First call to 1-800-XM-Radio:

Spanish voice - took all of my information and said "sorry I have to transfer you to cancellation dept. Music then click then dial tone.

Second call to 1-800-XM-Radio:

Jamaican Voice- took information- then Sorry, I have to transfer you, Click, dial tone.

Third Call to 1-800-XM-Radio:

No noticable accent - I said enough of this crap, please transfer me to Cancellation dept, before you take all of my information please.
Click, Dial tone.

FOURTH CALL - this time called 1-800-998-7900 (cancellation Dept direct number, thanks to some board members!)

Spanish voice - I explain that car is going in garage for winter, please stop quarterly billing, until car is back on the road in May or June. REP says I am going to give you $77 a year to stay activated, and just call in may to resend signal. I explain that I don't want that deal, Just cancel, and I'll re-activate in May or June. He says, I am going to give you 3 free months to stay activated. AAAGGGHHH!!! I say NO THANK YOU, Please just cancel the radio.

He says, Is there anything I can do to keep your radio activated? I said, LOOK, I canceled 2 radios in protest of the new channels already, This one is not a protest. I am going to re-activate in May, IF YOUR COMPANY IS STILL AROUND. Please just cancel my radio!!!

He says OK, and apologizes for being so difficult but hinted that he had marching orders from above. I can respect him for trying. BUT, that ordeal was 45 minutes of my life that that I'll never get back.

The way I understand it, they merged the music channels. The 50's channel may not be the one you had, but you should still have one. On Sirius, one of the classic rock channels was The Vault. It's been replaced with Deep Tracks, the XM version.

Did they kill the 50's channel? I have two XM accounts...hmmm.

Fifty`s channel is one that now originates from the Sirius studios in NYC. The DJ`s in DC. were let go. My favorite "Matt the Cat" had just returned from his honeymoon vacation to learn he no longer had a job.

Meanwhile the Stock price continues to plummet. Now about 15cents a share.

(Glad I dumped my shares when it was $23. bought at $1.73)

I've had XM since '02. I've lost a few channels I enjoyed along the way. They seem to drop/add channels about once a year or every other year. But they would have to cut a whole lot of channels before I would consider canceling.

I quit driving 15 years ago and part of it was the constant challenge of looking for a radio station I wanted to listen too. It seemed to never fail about the time I found a good station it would start to fade out and the cruel process would start all over again.

I would have taken 6 free months to keep the radio active. It would help the XM rep and save me an activation fee when I wanted to start using the radio again.
