Physical for CDL

I know I should already know the answer to this question but, believe me, some day we will all be forgetful! Now what was the question? Oh yes!

My CDL is good (from the state of Florida, where we can't count) until 2011 however the medical card has to be renewed this year. Do I have to have it done in Florida or can I have it done anywhere along the way? We are not getting back to Florida that often but if I have to make a special trip I will do so. Seems like I could get a physical most anywhere.

Think you can get it from any doctor that can do DOT physicals

Concur. Any Dr. qualified and willing to do DOT physicals. Some truck stops will accomodate, such as the Doc in a Box at the Gary Flying J at exit 15

You can have a dot medical exam done in any state by any licensed medical doctor. There are no DOT requirements or qualifications for medical doctors accept that they have to be licensed by the state they operate in.

This differs from the FAA requirement where the doctor has to be an aviation medical examiner.

I could be mistaken but I think a DO is everything a medical doctor is but also has the knowledge to 'manipulate' your body!

Kind of a chiropractor with a prescription pad.

The difference between a DO and a MD is that the Osteopaths take a more wholelistic(yeah, I can't spell it right) approach. The MD will concentrate on whatever your complaint is, while the DO will ask many more general questions. I was seeing a DO for a while and he never wanted to crack my spine.

I noticed a bunch of them yell at patients. When I did the medical billing thing, I had one client who was head of something in the the DO association here in MI. Supposed to be the top of her profession but she was something else.

I sat in her office as she berated three patients in a row about their weight. I didn't know calling someone fat dumb and lazy was getting to a cure.

I had another who yelled at his nurses to the point that one stabbed him. She could not take it anymore and that was his wife.
