It seems to me as of lately there has been alot of personal attacks on members of this forum. May I please suggest that Personal attacks do nothing but make this forum childish (not a person attack just an observation) It is ok to disagree with someone with out making a personal attack. Everone has a right to agree or disagree. This is helpful when tring to find answers to questions. Seeing things thru several different perspectives. I have been in trucking since 1980 and expediting for 4 yrs and am always learning new things each and everday. While 1 point that someone makes I will disagree with but something else they say I can agree with. If you take all information that you get and can learn 1 thing from it you have learned something for that day and build from there. So lets try and learn from all posts without the personal attacks. Please don't take this post personal, even I am guilty. I was taught If you have nothing nice to say then don't say it. If you disagree state why and please give your reason why. This way we can have several different perspectives on an issue.

DISCLAIMER: This is, in no way, a personal attack on Babs. It's just my take on the situation.
Part of the problem is that some people take simple disagreement as a personal attack. If the person with the opposing view is accused of a personal attack, it becomes so in some peoples minds. I have seen people post an opinion and then get upset because someone posted an opposing view. I see that as an unreasonable expectation when the purpose of a forum is discussion.
ADDITIONAL DISCLAIMER: This was not meant as a challenge to Babs. I have no doubt that Babs is a fine person with numerous redeeming qualities.

As one of those that have, on many threads, taken opposing views as a personal attack I would agree.
It is time for all of us, and that includes me, to take opposing views as constructive input, to not then fire back with remarks that become hateful and insulting to others.
I know I am working to improve accepting others comments and suggestions as just that - suggestions and comments and not insults.
I hope this clears up where I stand from here on in and hope others will do the same.

Ah, yes, the common Liberal (liberalis thinskinius). The same people who's bleeding heart tells them how best to spend my money.

I have my share of the Personal Attacks. After having Dreamer removing my old name because of it. I wish I hadn't. This site and EW are great places to learn the business and get to know folks. I was a mod at EW but had to step down as a Mod because it took up alot of my time. We all should be helping each other in this business not taking shots at one another. I'm guilt of doing it too.

Good post and well timed. We do not post a lot however we do come here to learn and will post if we think what we have something to benefit our industry. We have learned a lot from this site and I am sure we will continue to learn here. ya i studied these forums for about 6 months before getting into expediting and i asked a lot of questions...90% of the replys were negative...but you could always count on the moderators to give truthful answers...i have talked to quite a few drivers about this site, and the ones that know about it,usally dont visit it as often or not at all,due to the negativity,theres plenty enough of it in the world today, this should be a place or a site that we come to ask questions,relax and enjoy, not get beat up on.. if i would have listened to the 90% of the replies to mine and others questions, i wouldnt be expediting today... JUST ONE MANS OPINION

It's been said a few times that ppl are more likely to post about a negative event than a positive one. I think the negative posts need to be read tho, as they do tell a story or two about different carriers or circumstances that could help in the long run.
This site, as 99% of the sites out there, is not for the thin skinned. Anyone who wants roses and cookies aren't going to find them here. Ppl tend to tell it the way they see it, be it right or wrong. Personally, it's what I like about EO and expediting... individuality and passion, and the fact there's usually more than one right answer. And it beats hearing the same ol war stories on the road

Conflict is part of life. How we handle it reflects our level of civilization. For the most part, I think we're pretty civilized here, even though there are times when some of us, myself included, regress to the level of a three year old, (THawk will see what I mean, if his 'princess' decides her new baby brother is hogging all the attention) But the cooler heads are here to remind us that we need to cooperate to survive, and that's a very good thing.

No one knows more about taking on the status quo on this site then me.I wore my self out trying to get across some pretty obvious positions,have been called everything but JC.
Politics aside,I have grown to respect and admire each and every soul I have had the opportunity to spare with,have long winded debates with and flat disagree with on EO.I have learned humility,and been challanged by some of the brightest people I have ever encountered.
When my Mother said be careful or you may grow up to be a trucker,she had know idea how proud a badge of honor that title would become.
I wish all my friends who I have come to know and respect,and at times allowed to kick me around,a very warm and truly blesssd Holiday Season and profoundly profitable 07.
We have much work to do,lets do it together.

Yes this is that special time of the year when everybody looks at all the christmas lights while driving down the road and thinking how wonderful life is and feeling good about getting home to the Family and to see friends and to reflect back on times gone by feeling good about our fellow man & lady's for that special moment.
It's just to bad we all do not take the time to slow down to feel this way for the whole year. I'm not sure about the rest of you, but everyday I have to remind myself and to practice not getting caught-up with the daily stress and to try to be kind and to go softly into that good night.
