I have never in my life heard gaelic spoken, and thought it was a dead language until I ran across this video by accident. It sounds like it would be a very difficult language to learn, and if you did learn it, there are few places where it is spoken. I know there are many people of Irish extraction all over the place, me included, and many probably on EO. Especially on St. Patricks day.

Yep been around for a bit.

Gaelic is spoken in Scotland too, isn't the same as Ireland but it is Gaelic. Welsh is another language which is used over there that sounds like Gaelic.

You can take classes in Irish Gaelic, the BBC has some 'training' on it and Welsh too. They speak it here in the states in some parts of the North East, and in Canada - I think Kingston Ontario is one which is rich in Gaelic. I also know my neighbors spoke it when the old man (grandfather) was still alive, he refused to speak English.

I toured Southern & Northern Ireland a couple of years ago.
In Northern Ireland Gaelic is rarely spoken.

Southern Ireland on the otherhand are (or were, before they broke the piggy bank) in the midst of making the Gaelic language their first language (again), with English second, and changing all of their road signs etc.

Absolutely fascinating Country.
