>It's not a biohazard . Urine is sterile . Didn't you hear
>about the kid that peed in an ice machine in a high school ?
>And whose band motorhome driver unloaded his dump tank
>crossing a bridge on to a boatload og tourists below ?
No I didn't hear.
Ok, I agree that some think this way and see where you are coming from, but in truth it is listed as a bio-hazard (at least when I took my bio-hazard response training) and no way a complete sterile environment. This is a proven fact.
I really don’t want to sound like a know it all, I am not but I do believe I need to defend my comments with facts. Sorry everyone if I am long winded I am only trying to help.
You may have some medical training, maybe even a doctor, but let me explain my point. Urine is one of many transmission vehicles for pathogens, both virus and bacteria based pathogens. Unless one pees a substantial amount of alcohol, some of these things are alive for hours, even days after discharge. Simply put the fact that there are several fecal-oral transmitted pathogens that are recognized as very harmful to humans and proved as such, even here in North America, so it is important that many understand the differences of dumping untreated human waste and properly disposing of it without endangering others.
Some of these fecal-oral transmitted pathogens include a few nasty things; Cholera, Hepatitis A, Polio, Rotavirus (are just a few of many) all of which we don’t see here too much but a couple of these (Cholera and Rotavirus) been found in small quantities where raw sewage have been dumped in large quantities in water supply sources, i.e. last year’s lake Huron water supply pollution in Canada and Chicago/Milwaukee a few years ago. Oh to add something here, when I work at the research lab, I found out that Cholera can effect people who have O blood type who seem the most susceptible to the point that many have shell fish allergies which are theorized actually caused by a strain of Cholera which some shell fish carry.
I could go into great detail what all of these are, how sick you get and a bunch of other stuff, but I won’t. I can say wash your hands.
Now you may not think the pee bottle thing is a big deal, which I agree with you, dumping a half gallon or even a gallon of pee on the grass is no big deal but others do. My point is simply this; people are anal about things with tuckers, truckers are a target and a lot of the public think that many truckers are outright filthy pigs and throwing a pee bottle out the window reinforces this image. The general public don't know or care what the difference is between an Expediter and a trucker, all they see is a truck and a filthy driver. Some people don’t tolerate this “violating†of mother earth as they drive their SUV, like those tree huggers who go to a rally to save a pine tree in a 1969 bluebird bus that is burning oil and getting 3 MPG. It takes only one time and someone who knows the laws and what to complain about or wants to make an issue out of it to have you’re a** in a sling over this issue. I know two MSP troopers who would not hesitate to call the Michigan department of environmental quality to get them involved if there is a complaint and fine your carrier over improper bio-waste disposal and go as far as file a report with the AG. They hate truckers who don’t follow the law, even the stupidest laws.
Again my advice is to dispose it in the bathroom.
