Depends on what percentage you're getting. If you're making 35%, you'll need 1900 miles to make $800. At 40%, you'll need 1667 miles. Both of those are possible, but my guess is they aren't probable. You should have a month of those numbers, but once winter comes, you'd be lucky to hit your goal. If you plan on driving by yourself, I would recommend a smaller company, such as Express-1.

Ask LDB for his opinion, as he drives single with Panther now. I can only tell you from my experience that as teams we did well, and as a solo I started smoking again :p

Driving on a 60/40 split with the driver getting 60% would require about 1100 miles a week to gross $800 (1100*$1.20*.6=$792). Fuel for an 1100 mile week would probably be about 150 gallons for driving and idling combined. That's around $392 out of the $792 so there's only about $400 a week left. There would be fsc added to most of the runs to help out some. That might amount to $175 so on 1100 miles you're take home would be around $575 or so.

To gross $800 from 38% would require 2100 miles per week. Don't count on it. At the more commonly given 40% to the driver and owner pays all expenses you'd need 2000 miles a week. Still not likely. At 1700 miles a week you'll come out about $650 and be more likely to achieve the miles. I'd try for the more usual 40% split and figure on 1500-1600 per week with any extra being a bonus. I'd also have in there that you get 100% of any hand load/unload pay as well as your percentage of any detention pay since detention affects your earnings as well.

If he is getting $1.20, and you are getting 38% that will give you $.46 a mile. You have no expenses you could Gross $798.00 that with 1750 miles. Not a bad way to get back into the driver seat.

Sorry to hear he gave the job away..
