Hi All,

For those of you you are interested in how to run a trucking business or starting one up. Volvo and Overdrive Magazine produced a book in 2001 telling and suggesting what you would have to do in order to start a trucking business as an owner/operator. The Manuel is still available online, I do not know if you can order it through the web site any more, but you can try. I think they ran out of them and did not go to reprint.
The website is [www.partners-in-business.com.] You can download and print the book online, 22 chapters consisting of 128 pages. but it will not give you the charts that are in the rear.
I have those charts available for you guys and gals out there! Please e-mail me at [[email protected]] directly and I will gladly attach them to the e-mail for you to download and print. They are in MS Word format
This is for the person who e-mailed me about 2 weeks ago requesting them, please request them again. I accidently deleted your message.

That was a great tool for basic book keeping. Maybe if you contact your local Volvo dealer they can locate you a copy. There is probably a warehouse full of these books waiting for your call.

The Partners In Business resource was one of the tools I used to research trucking and write our business plan before we became expediters. It's a little dated now but still a good resource. I understand it is being updated but don't know the details. It is written mostly for tractor/trailer applications but with a little thought, it can be adapted to expediting. I'm glad to see people still mentioning it here. It really is one of the best resources out there.

One line I saw on the partners-in-business.com site was this:

"You have to be a good driver and a good businessperson to succeed as an owner-operator"

That point has been made here on this site many times albeit in slightly different verbage.
