parking

Just a question to see how expedite drivers feel about parking. I have been reading about the shortage of parking spaces along interstates be it a rest stop or truckstop. Do any of you agree with having to pay to park. I know that expediters generally sit longer than most others between loads so we would be more appt to not want to pay this is my feeling what is yours.

Personnaly, I do not pay to park. I do not pay cover fee for the
"privledge" to enter their lot (even if it is refundable). Bottom
line is I do not pay for any more than I need to purchase, when I
need to purchase it. Manage the fuel and you won't be captive to
the areas that practice those norms. There is NO magic staying
at a truck stop. There are way too many nice quiet other places to
tie up.

I agree 100% with X06...unless you got 16 wheeler ,then its harder to find a place to "nightover" of course...a lot of truckstops ARE NOT the safest places to be anymore ,how sad EH?...( im practicing that canadian lingo )...Hey Col. thanks for your help,had to go with the titleholder of my rig...that one co. i talked to you about was a "shyster",Sorry to have taken up your time on that refferal...after i get some miles on ,i. e. a "bankroll"an laptop, and can afford to wait a mo. for a revenue ck,well im sincerely hoping we can do something in the future ! With the new HOS rules coming into effect in a few weeks, parking could become a bigger problem than it already is. In the December issue of Land Line there is an article about public parking in the different states. Focussing on the states east of the Mississippi, there are five states that do not allow overnight parking in the public parking areas (rest areas). These include IN, MA., DE, AL and GA.

WI allows you to park 5 - 8 hours; and ME, NH, VT, CT, NJ, MD, NC, FL and MS allow you to park 10 hours or more. The remaining states; MI, IL, OH, PA, NY, VA, WV, KY, TN and SC allow you to park less than 5 hours.

The following states allow you to park in closed weigh stations:
WI, MI IN, OH, KY, TN MS, GA, MD, DE, CT, RI and ME.
