Maybe we would live in a different environment today had the press done such a thorough job on investigating Obama's actions prior to his run for the presidency.....

The New York Times is employing a system that enlists readers to help go through the emails. The Washington Post was going to use a similar system, but then opted to let more readers comment on the most newsworthy parts of the emails.

Mother Jones, ProPublica and msnbc.com are working with Crivella West Inc., to create a searchable database of the emails.

The Associated Press plans to scan the paper copies to make searchable files available to its members and clients. The state said it was not practical to provide electronic versions of the emails.

Seems like an awful lot of trouble to go through for someone that hasn't announced a candidacy yet.

Any emails that pertained to state business are fair game. If personal emails were sent on "official systems" so are they. Only purely personal from personal computers are exempt from the public eye. Same goes for any politician. IF a politician is stupid enough to post on public forums, like FaceBook or Twitter etc, they get what they deserve.

Does the press include Fox News?

Just wondering?

No, Fox is not the "press" neither are any of our so called news outlets. They are all out just for ratings or pushing agendas. Other wise Obama would not be in office. Neither would have the bums we have in there.

I keep hearing -"The press" this and "The press" that,
I'm just trying to find out who "The press" is.

IMHO this DOES include Fox News. They'll be reporting the story and are guilty of not reporting some of the stuff from 2008 that they should have.....not that it would have made a difference.

OK I guess but wouldn't it be a bit unfair just to single out Obama when the statement could also be ...

Maybe we would live in a different environment today had the press done such a thorough job on investigating Bush's actions prior to his run for the presidency.....

OR

Maybe we would live in a different environment today had the press done such a thorough job on investigating Reagan's actions prior to his run for the presidency.....

Both apply equally, as would including Clinton, Bush I and other names.

The press has always been skewed, it will always be skewed but today there is more to the press then Huntley and Brinkley or Rather.

I do believe that Obama was given a bit more of a "free pass" than many other candidates were but none are vetted to the degree that they should be.

The press COULD be less skewed if they wanted to be but they are out to press an agenda, all of them, and that does not bode well for us.

Exactly my point.......they're so busy chasing...LITERALLY chasing Palin and they can't even see the hypocrisy of their own actions.

Fox is not any better. They run around with their heads where the sun don't shine. Just as the rest of them are.

But see it isn't about them chasing her, it is about her chasing the spot light. Unlike many in mainstream politics, she chased the hollywood/social media style politics which she can't complain about the amount of press or how they are "chasing her".

For the most part you are right, BUT, I would bet you dollars to donuts that if she went into a cocoon today, never said another word, that they would STILL be looking for ways to slam her. They don't like her because she does not "fit the mold" of what a woman should be. I mean, geez, she is not rabid for abortion rights! Just as any black candidate who is not a "welfare lunatic" would be blasted for not being "black enough".

She's not complaining about these emails as far as I've heard. As far as I know she's not complaining about the chasing, it was the PRESS that was doing the chasing that was doing all the whining.

Question to all that respond with various reasons, most being her fault as to why she shouldn't complain, even though she's not.

Even if all that you feel and say about her were true, can you justify the press' obsession with her to the point of reading through these emails, trying to find a "gotcha"??

o well,,,we have Peeping Toms, now we have the Peeping Press to see what they can see, then they spin it and send the info to us. So are we Peeping indirectly and is the whole mess moral? It's a thought , I don,t know.
