Owner Operator vs Driver

What is the diference between a driver with 62% from 77 CPM and an Owner with 65 CPM .. this is Panther.. With Fedex is 80 CPM
Why Panther is offering more 2 cpm for a driver... They are trying to have us out of business.. I feel like an employee...they treat us like their slaves. You think you are the one who decide...try not to take few runs and see what happens...they did everything to take you under 67% .. I'm very close but I don't care ...just got approved for Fedex... Good luck Panther Owners (who just own the truck not business :)))

o/o owns the truck and drives it.
driver is a 1099 employee.
if you don't like the way you are treated as an o/o you can take your truck elsewhere.
if you don't like the way you are treated by your owner as a driver you can inquire at other carriers.
you have obviously made a decision.
so whats the point of this thread?

Well 62% of .77 is 47.74 and 100% of .65 is .65 so that's the first and most obvious difference. Beyond that I can't say.

big different is o/o take off when he feels like it
a company driver has to ask if he will be able to take off

there are many differences between an owner opp and a company driver.
Most important is pay.Company drivers usually are on forced dispatch. If your contract labor, this gives you choices on loads you take, but as an owner ,you will always make more, there is no split with the owner of the truck

I don't think always ...
how many times we met experience drivers ,that used to be owners ,and now happy driving someones else equipment saying "it just dosn't worth it..."
a well runs truck/business can many times put more money in the Team pocket ,especially if they cannot afford a very best truck.
i once being told by an expedite team :
"if you have an accident :
as an Owner you call your banker
as a driver you call your carrier "
and then there is the freedom of not needed to provide the credit line and cash reserve.

AS an owner for over 30 years,I've never ended the year in the red,as a driver, there were times when I didn't know which way was up
