That may turn out to be true at some future point.

Ahhh ... who is "they" ?

Let's say that's correct just for the sake of argument.

Why do you think that is ? (that he would "push" for single-payer as a consequence of having spent "too much time" in Russia)

I understand you want to pick out every little word here and there to make a specific point. I know where you stand on these issues and apparently we disagree.

I have friend I met online who is a doctor and a specialist in pediatric infectious diseases. Has worked around the world (including Russia and Indonesia) and is published. His father (now deceased) was a career professional with the US Public Heath Service, before becoming a medical school dean.

He makes the same exact complaints that you do above. He personally favors a single-payer system.

Really? Online Dr, how do you know?! I will tell you what I know as experien ing decades of single payer medicine with the military and va. It is rarely good, there are exceptions; however, they are rare. Mostly long waits for marginal care at best. Single payer is ripe for fraud

I am a patient at Mayo Clinic in Florida. If our health care was so terrible why are so many patients at Mayo are from foteign countries? They said it needed to be fixed, well if your car needs a tuneup do you tear it apart then reassemble it?

The first question is easy: America has some very advanced specialists & technology, which are also very expensive. What the princes of Saudi Arabia can afford is not available to the likes of you, me, or the majority of Americans. It might as well be on the moon, for all the good it does us.

Sounds like he spent too much time in Russia.

It sounds to me like he understands that Obamacare simply sticks a brightly colored bandaid over an ugly mess. Insurance won't solve the actual problem, which is the unaffordable cost of health care today. The causes are many, the solutions unpopular, so the bandaid wins, as usual.

Your answer is really unresponsive ... since it does not address the questions I asked. How about we try it again - I highlighted my questions in bold so that they stick out and won't get lost among all the words and letters and punctuation marks:

1. Ahhh ... who is "they" ?

2. Let's say that's correct just for the sake of argument.

Why do you think that is ? (that he would "push" for single-payer as a consequence of having spent "too much time" in Russia)

As far as "knowing where I stand on these issues", if you are speaking about Obamacare and/or socialized medicine generally as "these issues", I rather doubt that you know where I stand - as I don't think I have expressed an opinion one way or another about either of them in this thread ... or perhaps anywhere else on EO.

I wonder how many here REALLY believe that they are going to get total access to the best of the best, in both equipment or specialists, once we go to a "single pay" system? There will ALWAYS be separate health care, better health care, for the "elite", just as there is in England and in most places with a so called "single payer system. Those who can afford better than what the masses will have forced upon them, for their own good of course, will get it. Anyone who would believe that is EASY!!

You're an online "Big Al" ... purportedly a truck driver with decades of experience of single payer medicine with the military and va ... but how do I really know ?

You could just be some pimply-faced 20 year-old kid typing your posts from Mom and Dad's basement.

"they" are anybody pushing for single-payer. Or similar alternative.

Good ... you're halfway there: one question down, one still to go ...

Now, on the matter of the second question:

Why do you think that "spending too much time in Russia" would result in someone "pushing" (as you put it) for single-payer ?

I can't imagine that this would a terribly difficult question to answer: you clearly drew a conclusion (one thing as a consequence of another) and I can't imagine that you don't know your mind ...

I imagine some might speak other languages, but when one has that kind of money, one can simply hire translators. Why is this relevant?
BTW, I picked the Saudis because I know they have been treated at the Cleveland Clinic.

Maybe the fact that Russia is a communist country. If one spends enough time there maybe that way of life becomes NORMAL to them.
