Well the wife and I leave the house Sunday evening and park at the TA to go to orientation on Monday morning. We arrive and get our heads full of a lot of good information. I was glad that I had been driving for awhile. I would hate to have to learn log books hazmat and border forms all at once. The forms for crossing the border are a little challenging but I think we will figure it out okay. I really hate the Qualcomm as it knows if you stopped for a 10 min. break which means you MUST log it.(not good when you had that extra cup of coffee)
Truck is all decked out with some cool decals. The TA’s showers were down both days that we were there so we decided to run to the house that night thinking that the Dayton area you should be easy to get out of in the morning.
After getting the things squared away at the house I went out and hit the right message putting us available. Five minutes later we get a call sending us to Columbia City for a run going to Jacksonville, Boy that was quick, anyway I was told that I was 142 miles from the shipper, it was 172 miles, no big deal will get it figured out when the smoke clears.
Get there on time for pickup and ask about my deadhead number, they told me it was on my load offer so get it off of there, because it was my first time with Qualcomm I must have missed it. Checked it again not there sent QC message and got $21.50 hmmmmmmmm 72 miles is what I should be paid for, but they can’t get it done Oh well.
Then comes our empty move offer.....Now let me say that at orientation they were rather adamant about accepting them if you are new because they know there customer base and we don’t. I told the wife that I did not think that we should go south for freight especially late in the week but they may have some information that we don’t. We make the move 297 miles SOUTH and have been sitting ever since. I just hope that this was just a screw up and not how our new company uses Teams in a “D” unit. I think that I will remove the bottom of map page for Florida. Asked if they would move us out of here, Not only NO but H*ll no.. Will call on Sunday Again.
