thought we could have a thread related to non-corporate ts we have been to and enjoyed. here are my first two

bp/derailed diner
good ribs and carrot cake. fun transportation themed restaurant.
robertsdale al
i-10 ust inside al from fla.
shower 10 bucks.

i-65 exit 22
the tenneseean/exxon
pops bbq
good buffet. good salad bar and the bbq ribs could be tasted in the throat before biting into them.
shower 8 bucks and a 4$ deposit unless you first purchase 50 gal. (guess the towels are just THAT good)

I know everybody's down on the Detroiter, but today for the third time, they gave me a free shower in exchange for filling up my gasser van. Sure miss the old days there, but that was before I was vanning. Wish I'd been in some of the bull sessions in the restaurant with the other 100 vanners there at one time.

Stockmen's Truck Stop in South St Paul, MN, right off I-494 by the river, same exit at the KW dealer. Killer restaurant with the best streak & eggs ever. I think they still give you a free breakfast with a 50 gallon purchase. Great service, low prices, and at late night the clientèle is far more entertaining than late night TV.

My shout out goes to Willies Place in Carls Corners Texas off of 35E or W I cant remember, but they have some great food at some good prices. Try the Denver Omlette

Jacks Truckstop in Cullman Al. Great food at a great price. Plus if your a smoker they still have smoking

The Boise Stage Stop on I-84 in the middle of nowhere Idaho always had great food. Haven't been there in a few years so maybe it's changed.

It's about 15 Miles east on I-84 from Boise.

Been there a few times myself. It's little places like this sitting all over the country that makes living "on the road" a little funner.

But, since Willie had decided to declare himself a Liberal Commie, I have no interest in patronizing any of Willies "Bio-Diesel" distributors/truck stops.

I would rather use his place than go to that tourist trap Iowa 80. It seems to be a bit pricey and rather gaudish.
