Not a good report here.
My brother knocked down what he said was 6 or 8 point. Claims it was good hit but he got in the water and crossed swamp.
I was shutting down anyways for the weekend and went to help him look. 6 hours later after walking thru acres of cattails and 70 degree temps we gave up:mad:
On a better note,, I took a turkey yesterday morning

Our U.P. trip was a complete bust other then the cold beer and camp fires. We had very lil shooting and it was Very Poor shooting at that.
May as well have taped 500 1 $ bills to the truck and just drve aroundtown untill they blew off the truck
All other hunters we came across where just as disappointed as us, We came across 1 group o hunters running the Layout boats near Sugar Island and they seem to have had the best luck of anyone..They had 6 birds for 2 days of hunting.
This trip tell me no fresh birds in the U.P. yet and maybe late gettig here down sate unless the weather changes fast..
Was still a good get away :D

Still havt seen or know anyone bagging a deer...
My son has been out lot and coming up emptyhanded

It is still VERY early for the bulk of the birds to reach where we hunt. The traditional peak is Oct 31- Nov 5. Sorry you missed them up there. Where were you hunting?

No problem. Ever try Little Bay de Noc? I have always wanted to hunt there. I here that there are a lot of bluebills and redheads on Saginaw Bay.

  You know how I feel bout the BIG WATER,:D
Thats not far from Indian lake where we always go up there, and we do run down there from time to time just scouting around and goofing off talking to guys...Some seem to do good.
But here again thats a whole new ball game and learning curve out there..Something we just ain't set-up for.
We blew it this year by moving to the east,, We should have headed west to the rice fields near Watersmeet in the Ottawa Forest.

I keep telling you, one good day with us and you to LOSE your fear of big water and you would be changing your entire rig over to a layout rig. You would be leaving the march forever!! LOL!!

That is ANOTHER PLUS!!!! LOL!! The ONLY mud we ever deal with is when pulling up boat or decoy line anchors. MUCH easier on your knees too!!

Maybe we can get out this year. I may be home early due to all the truck problems I am having now. Layout hunting is work, just not as hard on knees that are getting older.
