Our U.P. trip was a complete bust other then the cold beer and camp fires. We had very lil shooting and it was Very Poor shooting at that.
May as well have taped 500 1 $ bills to the truck and just drve aroundtown untill they blew off the truck
All other hunters we came across where just as disappointed as us, We came across 1 group o hunters running the Layout boats near Sugar Island and they seem to have had the best luck of anyone..They had 6 birds for 2 days of hunting.
This trip tell me no fresh birds in the U.P. yet and maybe late gettig here down sate unless the weather changes fast..
Was still a good get away
Still havt seen or know anyone bagging a deer...
My son has been out lot and coming up emptyhanded
Where were you hunting?
Sorry Layout I didnt see your post...I took a few days off from the internet..
We started at Indian Lake near Manistique then moved over towards Neebish Is. just south of Sault Ste. Marie and set up on the north edge of Munuscong Lake.
No problem. Ever try Little Bay de Noc? I have always wanted to hunt there.
You know how I feel bout the BIG WATER,
Thats not far from Indian lake where we always go up there, and we do run down there from time to time just scouting around and goofing off talking to guys...Some seem to do good.
But here again thats a whole new ball game and learning curve out there..Something we just ain't set-up for.
We blew it this year by moving to the east,, We should have headed west to the rice fields near Watersmeet in the Ottawa Forest.
I keep telling you, one good day with us and you to LOSE your fear of big water and you would be changing your entire rig over to a layout rig. You would be leaving the march forever!! LOL!!
By leaving the marsh???
How do ya get that smell or taste of mud in your thermos of coffee tho
Easy sounds good..
This year it seems setting up and tearing down took more of a toll on me then years past..LOL even the youngest guy was making comments on the work involed..Think he may finally realizing he is getting older also..
