OOIDA Needs To Know!

Hey gang, I had the opprotunity at the truck show to talk to Todd Spencer VP, and Rod Nofziger from the Wash D.C. OOIDA office! We discussed at great length about the expedite industry! A topic that came up was "Being under contract, and the owners not honoring their end of the contract" i.e. "BAD OWNERS"! I know there are also bad drivers that do it to owners also, and their are two sides to every story! But, speaking to them on mine and Sindy's past experiences with SCUM owners, they want to here about them! OOIDA is the only organization representing the Professional Driver! Kim in compliance is there to take info on carriers and owners who are bad actors in our industry! What they do is compile a list on carriers/owners and look for trends in their behavior based on complaints, and will help you remedy the problem! The OOIDA phone number is 1 800 444 5791! We have a boat load of friends in this industry and Sindy and I are always looking out for you all! God speed and God Bless!:)

Diane and I once had a dispute with a fleet owner that we ended up resolving on our own, but when we were researching our options we talked to OOIDA about it.

Being in the area, we went to the OOIDA office near Kansas City. We were pleased to get the good advice they provided and shocked by OOIDA's willingness to get involved in the dispute if we so requested.

This was early in our expediting carreer and I have been a strong supporter of OOIDA ever since, not so much for our sake, we can take care of ourselves, but for the sake of thousands of drivers who benefit from the class-action suits OOIDA files against bad carriers and for the individual owner-operators who quietly benefit, case-by-case, from OOIDA's assistance.

I did not know about the bad-owner database OOIDA keeps but it does not surprise me that they do.

I'm a member of OOIDA. They may be interested in crooked owners more then crooked drivers. BUT their latest issue March\April PP 129 lists up coming Truck Events through September with out mentioning the Expedite Expo in July at Wilmington, OH. Doesn't seem they are too interested in Expediters.

Before you jump to conclusions has anyone sent the info on the Expo to the right person?

OOIDA does support the Expo has been there every year I have been to the Expo. Last year included the First Observer class and will be held again this year.

We had a similar experience with OOIDA that Phil had. We had a driver back into our sleeper door in Laredo, TX that had false insurance papers, void DOT Number, and a company that could not be found. The OOIDA staff were amazing at all they tried to get hold of this company to get us some compensation. We are also firm supporters of OOIDA and all they do for their members.

We also utilized OOIDA when our first fedex owner stiffed us. They called these folks and then called us and suggested we get a collection agency with an attorney. Within a week of this assistance we received two-thirds of the funds due us. We also listed them on ripoff reports. Com. We never named them on EO. They advertise for drivers for their 3 ST out of NY Often.

You brought up an interesting thought though on if they have been contacted or not? I am hoping since this was brought up they get flooded with requests to add the Expo...

Yh'a well why not,
we have DAC report ,where drivers gets flagged by formers carriers, without hardly any chance of clearing their names.
CSA will place you out of business for no rezone at all, and good luck fixing that one.
and now we have an ASSOCIATION playing Judges, executors and recruiters.

on a case by case, yes.
having a black list ? - gone too far !

beside, why stop with bad owners?
we also need a bad drivers list, maybe OOIDA can help,
it will help if we can stay away from brokers that don't pay,
plenty of bad carriers out there,
many shippers will never pay you,
some states do not deserve your dime,
and...
