OOIDA challenge

I've been at the Dallas show and spent time talking to the guy in charge of the OOIDA booth. They are working on a challenge to the new HOS right now. They seem to be the only organization that recognizes how bad the updated HOS are. Here's the challenge. If you aren't a member join for a year and see if you don't get more than your money's worth. That applies whether you are an Owner/Operator or an Independent Driver. OOIDA works for you either way.

You can get a $20 discount if you join from a referral. You can use my number, 677319, Leo Bricker, or you can find any member and get their number if you prefer. That makes your first year only $25 and helps them present a stronger front as they work for us. I don't see anyone else who's going to try to get realistic HOS for us.

Leo you are oh so right! OOIDA is our only way of being heard.

When the numbers are strong enough, our voice will mean something.

Calling for a strike will do nothing. You could call for a shutdown on a certin day and you would be lucky to get more than a handful to go along.

One other thing to keep in mind, you do not have to be an Owner Operator to join OOIDA.

I joined shortly after hiring on as a company driver and will continue as a member when I get my own truck.

Feel free to use my # as a referral if you wish (see my sig line).

Now is the time to join!!!!!! Now is the time to renew if you have let your membership lapse!!!!!!!

You bring up a good point I should have clarified initially. OOIDA isn't an owner/operator association. OOIDA should be viewed in two distinct ways. OOidA is an owner/operator association and ooIDA is an independent drivers association. It's designed for and meant for owner as well as independents driving for an owner. Every member of this forum should be a member of OOIDA as well.

I joined a few weeks ago, (who would have thought I coulda saved $20 by procrastinating?!), because I view OOIDA in these two distinct ways: I need them, and they need me. Whether you are an O/O or a driver, you need someone to speak for you in Washington - and the more people OOIDA speaks for, the louder they can speak. (And with fuel prices giving all of us a pay cut every week, I'm hoping they can speak loudly enough to be heard by the deaf!
