Not being with that carrier, I'm not allowed (understandably) to post in the FedEx Custom Critical carrier forum. But I read something there (in the Waiting patiently in Ontario, Ca. thread) that I want to respond to so I am posting here.

FedEx needs to get work and find some loads for the ones that are sitting. Sometimes other carriers are looking better, but I know the Feds will come thru for us. LOL !!!

I write: zorry, I can only speak for Diane and me. We were one of the teams that got quickly out of Ontario on Monday after arriving Sunday afternoon. The load paid $1.90 per loaded mile with a deadhead less than 50 miles.
If you are inclined to wonder about how many non-FedEx trucks got out at their own expense or at low rates, you might also wonder about how many got quickly out with good loads. I know you were trying to encourage chuckon2 and maybe provide some coaching but please be careful to not be misleading about the big picture.
It may very well be true that other trucks got out at low rates or on their own dime. But it is also true that at least one truck (and presumably some others) got out at good rates and quickly out at that.
BTW, it turned out that friends of ours were in a FedEx truck there but we did not know it because they left early Monday morning before we got up. Word later came that they were sorry they missed us and that they had been sitting there for six days, turning down loads that insulted them the whole time.
We all know that expediting is a game of variables, but it would be helpful to all readers if speculation made about other trucks with other carriers is fair and balanced.
For us, with the equipment and credentials we have, Ontario, CA has become a highly desirable express center since we changed carriers. We have been there a few times since the change but never for long.
Last time we were there we met a team in a truck from an "off-brand" carrier. They got out under load quicker than us.
There are an estimated 15,000 expediter trucks on the road, which gives even the largest expedite carrier no more than 10 percent of that number. Since leaving FedEx Custom Critical, I have learned to be more mindful and respectful of the other 90+ percent. They have much to teach.
