If u could, what would u change/ eliminate as a driver at ur company? ex: limited driving hours, first in and out stuff, etc.

Me, I would shorten the time to get paid to one week.

I would pay on receipt of paper work, direct deposit.
I would also issue a debit card to contractors to speed up pay. Not a fuel card but a debit.

I'd start with a nice breakfest, 3 cups of coffee and the local newspaper at the local pancake house....head to the spa for a massage..then to the club fr 9 holes of golf..then lunch at the club and a few Scotch and soda's...then finish the back 9 on the golf course...then go to the office and call my broker..and my tax guy to see how many more hoop holes he found so I don't have to pay anymore taxes then i need to...then go home for dinner....

There's not much to gripe about here. These are teeny snafu's if ya will. Not like major gripes where I'm not getting paid or anything. It may be a long post cuz I'm too long winded sometimes. Not cuz this is some rant. For the runs I take I do fine.

As a driver I know I'm w/ a one way company. Therefore I stay local. I'd like to see em pay tolls. They don't add anything for that. Thus even if we weren't a 1 way company I'd have to think about any runs that took me on the turnpikes & such.

Last time I was offered a run of any distance it was a run to Parma, Ohio. $210. After DH to PU & coming back empty I would have driven 450 miles. Figure 30 gallons of gas + the tolls I would have made maybe $70 for all that driving. The run was offered for the next day. I said no thanx. For the first time since I've been there I was asked "why not?" w/ some agitation in the voice at the other end. I explained just what I explained here.

Next day I go 15 miles (30 total) for $135. I'm glad I said no to Parma.

I've run into other drivers occasionally at either pick ups or deliveries. Overall they like the company. The one common thing though is no one wants to go out on the road.

So from a CEO's perspective I'd figure out what I needed to do to make it more attractive for drivers to leave Michigan.
