Before buying the truck !
it will help if you treat yourself to a realistic business plan.
a first good advice is not to count the per week .
rather the per quarter .
and annually .
one question to ask your self :
can you run your truck for less then your competition ?
for how long ?
just because a carrier is adding trucks ,
is not to say they have freight to put in the box.
a good indication , is the turn over rate ,
don't bother asking the recruiters , they will (lie)or avoid .
ask what will be your new truck # ,
then pick a lower # , (or just look for one on a truck)
ask for the driver Phone # ,(or just ask the driver)
and ask him how long he have being leasing on .
then see how many trucks in the fleet.
, you need to make sure they have the freight for "your truck".
In expedite , the Owner Operator , is not the carrier customer ,
the shipper is .
they service the customer by providing truck coverage for the areas where the freight might come out of .
they get a better coverage by leasing on more contractors.
which make the market very competitive in today environment .
good luck.
keep asking.
