Ok what do you think will work to lower gas prices

I read the article from Reuters, Democrats push to end tax breaks for oil companies ( http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/energy_democrats_dc ) and hearing all the c**p that both the Dems and ‘publicans are preaching about oil profits, $100 checks (which will only give me a tank and a half of fuel) and all the other c**p of class warfare, I can not believe that some people would fall for some of this and that they think we are all dumb. :p

But as we approach another election this November, most likely the most important, I understand that both parties are going back to the one factor that matters the most and actually is a deciding factor for most elections, what is in you pocket.

Your thoughts?

Hydrogen or some other alternate fuel powered vehicles. When the oil conglomerate sees that they are losing market share, prices will come down like it does with everything else. In a word,COMPETITION.

ok, some new info's come across my desk that says big oil profits by about 9 cents per gallon which is'nt huge. producing and refining costs are up and taxes are outrageous! i'm hearing 53 cents a gallon in michigan, but if the governatrix were to lower those she'd just boost them up somewhere else so.....i'm thinking 3 bucks is our new "norm" although they're thinking about lifting the moretoreum on off shore drilling and leaving that up to individual states...virginia south carolina and georgia being good prospects so...maybe that would help long term?

I haven't any suggestions on what to do about the price of oil - as Grogg said, if tax breaks are eliminated, they'll just be raised somewhere else. The corpolitical (that's a word I just created, because what's good for corporate is good for the government, too) power to pick our pockets seems to be without meaningful limits anymore. If taxes are a touchy subject, they can find fees to charge, toll roads to build, (or sell) - the ways they have to take money are endless.
I do have a question for Greg, though - what exactly does "class warfare" mean? It's a term I hear whenever the subject is how the rich are getting richer, (which is a fact), but I'd like to hear a definition/explanation from someone who uses the term.

Prices are never gona come back down.. We have had it to good for to long and now that we have helped save the rest of the world to a democratic society they have discovered what we did 100 years ago. Have any of you seen the Giant Billboards by Caterpillar, showing that GIANT bridge under construction? Its in India.

India is now building a 4 lane expressway all the way around the country to connect its three major cities. They estimate that millions a day will use it, there is where are cheap fuel costs are going to.

In our work vehicles there is not much we can other than some Bio Diesel, but if Americans would stop purchasing (and they wont until they cannot pay for them) large cab plus 4x4 trucks and SUVs your part of the problem and not the solution. I just do not get why a mother has to take her kids to get a hair cut in or anywhere in a H-2 Hummer or Suburban designed for a small Army. I use to drive a 04 2 door Civic before entering Expediting, I loved that car had saftey air bags everywhere, quick not super fast but enough power, well handling, nicely equiped, sunroof air, ps, pw, pl, very nice comfortable car with an average mpg of over 35 sometimes 41. It got me from point A to B everytime. No Tvs or fancy extras, just do not understand having a car worth more than than ones house, or a car payment higher than rent or a house payment.

Well here is something else about India, they have built cities that mimic our cities to keep people there. like little towns with american signage and cars that drive on the 'correct' side. they are paid in Dollars and even there is a lot of american entertainment. I read about this before i was laid off and after I trained a bunch of people to go back there. someone who now lives there gave me pictures of one of these towns. the governemnt found out that it is easier to keep talent there than to let it come here.
