Using our carrier's fuel discount program, Diane and I paid $3.19 a gallon for diesel fuel today.
What did you pay for tires today with your carrier's tire discount program?
As a professional trucker i almost never paid more then a dollar a gallon.
actually, for the most part, high fuel prices drop my cost of fuel.
truckers do not pay for the fuel - shippers do.
truckers do not pay for the fuel - shippers do.
You would be surprised at how many truckers don't get the fuel surcharge that the shippers pay. Some of this fuel money ends up in some broker's poket.
Comparing Moose to most of us. is like comparing grapes to watermelons...LOL
FSC is NOT, was NOT designed to pay 100% of your fuel....and any uncompensated/DH miles is where you take the direct hit....in the wallet.
Really..I guess I could beleive that for a guy finding his own freight and setting his own rates.
I seem to dole out alot of money for fuel each week..Regardless of how much you get for FSC on payday, does it (FSC) not get counted as revenue and there for still cost at years end?
Im not for any more laws or Gov telling the private sector what to do,,But at this point I starting to lean towards something to control the price of oil, electricty, etc etc..Im seeing everything done in this country to go green and conserve has done nothing but cost me more..Some how some why it needs to fixed..The public propely has cut back on consumption as much as possible (or close) and nothing has been fixed.
Well...I use a company issued gas card...i get 100% of the FSC..at the end of the week, the company takes what i used on the card from my settlement, without charging me any interest at all...in most cases, not all but most, i can make money on the FSC...what is not paid for is when i decide to move on my own or drive 2-300 miles to go to dinner...but ither then that, as OVM said, the FSC was meant to be a "offse"..not re-imbursement..it takes a good carrier (that honestly pays 100% of the FSC to the O/o) and smart driving and with those in place, you can do well with the normal FSC....
Good thing we like all 3 of those..LOL
Your correct..Yesterday I took on just 50 gallon thinking it will cover the next 500 loaded milles with what I allready had in the tank.,,I figure in the end the 50 gallons cost me somewhere around 88-90 dollars (before taxes). Dispatch was on the ball and found them for me..70 miles later to p-up load cancels,
Now idling in the 90 degree weather burning it up waiting for them to possible work thru this screw up..Shoots any chance of profit down unless they salvage the load and get me some nice wait time out of it..
(Please bear in mind my last year of math was ninth grade and not my fav subject so my figures could be off a bit)
