Not me, 62 is it. Same when I was not speed limited. Can't stand pour diesel down the drain.

It'll be interesting to see if my GPS updates the new speed or if it will take awhile. I've always admired how accurate it is, distance-wise, in stating when a posted speed limit increases or decreases. My GPS always shows it within a second of seeing the sign.

My Garmin seemed to use about a 70 mph average between Dayton and Toledo. Maybe 68. But I'll still top out about 72-73 I think. I tried 65 but I just can't stay that low. My mpg is up about 17.5 at 72-73 on the cruise. I can live with that for now.

If I remember correctly garmins learn your driving style two people with different habits can start and end at the same place and show a different eta. I might have dreamed that but seems I read it somewhere.

Cool. Didn't know that!! Makes sense as to why, when heading to TX, I "gain" a little more time on the ETA. Also explains why I gain less on it than I used to.

I wasn't meaning the avg mph a Garmin uses when calculating distance to destination, but the Speed Limit it posts on-screen when going through posted areas. My Garmin shows both speed I'm traveling as well as what the posted speed limit is wherever I am.

I'm always impressed that it changes within feet, it seems (probably a tenth of a mile on the highway), whenever the speed limit signs change, whether on the Interstate or going through town. Has to be connected to GPS coordinates that are submitted by DOT, that are then part of the updates we do as users, then relayed by our own positions via GPS satellites.

Just another one of the mind-wandering questions that I ponder when driving.

No, you didn't dream it, it's true. ETA's are based on the historical speed and times of the driver.

The newer Garmins, as is noted above, also have the speed limit showing right there on the screen (some all the time, others only when you exceed the posted speed limit by 1 MPH or more). Some Garmins get their speed limit data from map updates, and some get them from the traffic radio signal.

Thanks and yea my new Garmin has the speed limit displayed. That's what didn't update yet. Might not until I do an update or the other thing you mentioned might catch up eventually we will find out
