OH Crap!

When it rains it pours so to speak.

We were traveling west bound on the Ohio turnpike when the storm hit. I seen it coming. I slowed down to about 10 MPH looking for a wide spot on the shoulder.

Then came the hail. Ping Pong ball to tennis ball sizes. The windshield took 8 or nine hits. It is no longer legal. Lost a wiper blade.

Made it to house. Checked out the truck. My box is battered. The top rail on the passenger side is folded over and a marker light is shattered. I have no idea if the box is leaking.

We are under load. Not legal to drive. Waiting for FDCC to tell us what to do.

THIS SUCKS!! :(

Sorry to hear about the damage Joe...I haven't stopped to look and the windshield is ok...I was on I-40 in AR at the 214 mm when all h8ll broke loose...while the hail that fell for the next 7 mile wasn't as big as what you encountered, it was dime to quarter size...Ill be stopping for gas in a bit so i'll be dng a walk around to look for damage....

Hope the damage to your box is strictly cosmetic and does not prove to be anything that will require big repair bills and time down....

No damagge here, but i did find a small (dime size) hole from a blister in the gel-coat that has "popped"...have to make a call and see how to get that fixed...

Well Layout, the truck is an easy fix, the house isn't.

I get to do the FEMA application shuffle, we have been flooded out here and it seemed to be subsiding but when I looked out at 1am, the water was rising and so was the leaks in my basement wall.

I know what that is like. I have not seen any damage at the house other than a lot of water in the back yard.

There is a truck coming in around 7 this morning to get this load off of my truck.

Once it is off I can get things looked at. The windshield is normally a quick fix. My hope is that the roof is OK to run with till I am home in late June.

My son and granddaughter are coming into town then. I would like to be able to hold off on repairs till that time.

Good luck with FEMA. You are going to need it.

Do you have flood insurance?

Yep got no choice but to have it ... actually just signed the new policy two months ago after they (FEMA) kept telling us we had to have it but explained to the nice government lady that we had it since we closed on the house 15 years ago. SO she insisted we do the paperwork shuffle and did so.

I got some sleep this morning, the street was flooded up to a foot and a half above my sidewalk which is a foot above the basement floor. Because I slept, I could not cycle the pumps and instead of the 1 inch of water, I have 4 inches but now I can get out of my driveway without having the water come into the car. I wouldn't be so p*ssed off at this but someone liberated my trash pump and the "portable" gas driven fire engine pump I built.

Now I know how you have over 7,000 posts. You don't stop, you text while driving. Shame on you, Shame, Shame:D;)

The truck is in the shop. There is quite a bit of damage. I can get it up and usable by tomorrow. The major repairs will have to wait about a month. Parts need ordered etc.

Nope, I hate texting in any form (but i have to do it to get in touch with my kids) and i do not type on the laptop while driving at all (well yea a GPS change sometimes)...but While i was stopped when i posted that, i wasn't getting out of the truck in a down pour to walk around it even if the hail was gone...i had about 70 miles to get before i needed to get gas, and then i knew i would have to get out ...rain or not...:)

Claim filed. $1000.00 deductible.

Not that it's going to help you now, but you might to contact Shelly at CIS. She had me change my policy a year or so back to add comprehensive coverage. The cost was minimal, and the deductible is $100.

It has saved me twice so far. Once when a truck picked up a piece of tire from the road and hit the front of one of my sprinters. Cracked the grille and holed the a/c condenser. Saved around $1100. The other was when the generator on one of my st's was water damaged. Saved me $700 that time.

Worth a phone call.

Thanks for the info, I am looking at many things right now. I will add that to the list. Time for changes.
