Wow "A standard nine passenger starting at $6800." that's great price for a sprinter.

I bet you he gets a lot of spam.

On the exediter did it have enough room for two skids? It looked like the design showed 2, but I couldn't tell.

The expediter shows 2 skids in the drawing with the bed along the side wall. I'd like to know how long the bed is. The drawback to most Sprinter sleepers is the bed goes across and is only 66" long. The setup shown on this guy's site gives more storage place and looks more sleeper friendly, provided it holds 2 skids and has a longer bed.

I wonder what they meant by 6' expediter? Last time I checked you couldn't fit 2 skids in a 6 foot space.

Depends on the size of the skids I guess .....

So just exactly how tall are you anyways Leo ? :)

The only problem with a side wall bed that folds down is you likely can't use it while under load .... which could kinda suck for that one that picks up Friday afternoon ...... but doesn't deliver until Monday morning .....

Me, I'm 73 1/2" tall ..... and usually sleep curled up a bit .... but I did make mine 36" wide (by 66" across) .... so I could stretch out diagonally if I wanted to. I have 108"+ clear from the rear of the bunk to back doors (enough for two 54" skids or tubs)

It either means 6' of cargo space, or a 6' bed in that sleeper. On '06 and earlier Sprinter, there is 165.9" between the back of the seats and the inside read doors. If it's a 6' bed, 72 inches, plus half an inch for the bulkhead, that leaves just 93.4" for cargo. That's enough for a couple of 40x48 skids, but that's it.

48x48 skids are out of the question. That would really limit what that van could haul. Not many carriers will accept a van that doesn't have at least 96 inches of space back there, with most wanting 108".

I'm not all that tall, about 5'9" on my best days but I still want to be able to sleep on my back if I want to. I don't believe you can have a fixed sleeper with that option and still carry 2 skids although perhaps the new ultra long model would allow that. I don't know the new dimensions so have no idea.

Yeah I hear ya - being able to stretch all the way out would be nice ... I woke up this morning and was feelin' a little cramped .... had to let my feet dangle over the edge for a bit to stretch out .....

Good point on the newer models - I know the long one went from a 158" wheelbase up to 170" for the 2007's I think ... so maybe it's doable now with that extra length .....

I just measured from the rear of the driver's seat (which I don't have all the way back) to the back edge of my bunk - it's 57 1/2 inches ...... that leaves me with 108" available.

I just looked at the Sprinter website and it says the cargo bed length on the 2007 170" wheelbase model is 185" - on my 158" 2006 it's around 166" I think. So 185" minus 108" (two 54" skids) would still leave ya 77" so it seems like it would be easily doable if it's directly behind the drivers seat ......

.... if only I had waited a year .... :)

If you run solo couldn't you take your passenger seat and put the bed over there to give you that extra length so you could stretch out? I'm not that sprinter/van savvy so I'm just throwing it out there.

Yeah, except that if you put the bed over there, it'll pretty much block the way in and out of the sliding door. Plus, either your feet or your head would then be right next to passenger door, which is probably the coldest spot in the van. You can't really insulate the passenger and driver doors much at all, because of having to leave room for the movement of the window and door lock/latch mechanisms.
