Maybe the Mullahs will like us better if we give them one of our most advanced drones.

U.S. officials have confirmed to Fox News that images aired by Iranian state television do in fact show the secret U.S. drone that went down last week in eastern Iran.
"Yep, that's it," one senior official told Fox News. "And it's intact."
U.S. officials had been expecting the video to appear. The footage, which shows the aircraft intact, confirms the Iranians have custody of the drone but appears to refute Iranian claims that it shot down the RQ-170 drone.
With early knowledge that the aircraft had likely remained intact, the senior U.S. official also told Fox News that President Obama was presented with three separate options for retrieving or destroying the drone. The president ultimately decided not to proceed with any of the plans because it could have been seen as an act of war, the official told Fox News.
Among the options the U.S. considered were sending in a special-ops team to retrieve the drone; sending in a team to blow up the aircraft; and launching an airstrike to destroy it.
NATO initially said the drone may have been one that was flying a mission over western Afghanistan before operators "lost control" of it. Officials have since acknowledged that the drone was part of a joint CIA-military reconnaissance mission.
One official told Fox News on Thursday that the incident is a huge loss and makes the top-secret helicopter tail lost during the Usama bin Laden raid in Pakistan "look like a pittance." The official said there are real fears the Iranians will share this technology with the Russians and the Chinese, in addition to using it themselves.
Once again the timid, bungling president insures that some of our most advanced technology remains intact for not only the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism, but is also handed over to the Chinese, Russians, and probably anybody else with a few bucks to spare. With hi tech instruments like this it's hard to be sure but fair to speculate that it had self destruct mechanisms that were rendered non-functional. If an air strike could have taken out this drone, considerable damage to our defense technology could have been avoided. Then too, there's the reinforcement to the appearance of our national weakness that's been on display since the day Barack Hussein Obama took office. Just another bullet point added to the record of the nation's worst president.

No, probably not ..... but given the mayhem and death that rains down from many or most of our drones, I'm willin' to take a wild guess that they might not hate us quite as much ..... if we'd just quit flyin' them over their heads .....

Obama has failed so many many times it's not surprising he's failed once more nor is it surprising for the subject to be changed.

The man seemed to be asking a question - I was just trying to help .... and so offered a possible answer in his quest for truth that might have some validity :D

Seems like there was once a fella around that said something or another about "doing unto others as you would have them do unto you ....."

Seems like that sorta thing has gone out of vogue though ....

....... was probably just a passing fad .....

So here is where the nay sayers who claim Iran is no threat to the united states should really be paying attition. How is it they brought down a muitimillion dollar plane down with out shooting it down? How were they able to get it to land with out destroying it?Yep they are no threat to us.Also Obama should have ordered it destroyed plain and simple. For the east and most of the world it just shows how weak he really is.Or is it that there was some kinda of deal made that we will never know about??????????

Iran Says Downed Drone Was Deep in Its Airspace

Sorry but I only see this as a problem for those who try to find everything wrong with Obama.

No one seems to remember Hainan incident and how it was handled.

Between the two incidents, this one and the one with China, the Chinese one was more significant and damaging than this could ever be. The just didn't get a small plane that most of the world knows what's on it but they got some cutting edge intel equipment and used some of it to learn how we do things.

What should have happened with that spy plane was the same thing as if a B-52 had problems over China, not to allow it to land or remain useful for any reason but destroy it by running into the ground. In this case, the people were also the issue, they should have done the right thing and gone down with the plane.

You think about this for a minute - the nationals security threat that this created was more important than the plane and the crew.

Bush did a seriously timid thing when he sent an apology to China in hopes to defuse a problem but by your standards, he should have launched a missile strike and put troops on the ground to take back our spy plane.

So here again is another issue of self-destruction that should have taken place. If the Iranians shot it down in their air space, then the invading them is actually really stupid, and Obama did the right thing.

Has anyone noticed that Fox has changed Osama's name to Usama after someone complained that using Osama is too close to Obama?

Chicken Fox - just like the rest of the mass media.

RQ170 is what Iran got and greg most of the world does not know what is on it or what it can do.It is one of our top drones. It was just two years ago that that the military confirmed the existence of the craft.

What should have happened with that spy plane was the same thing as if a B-52 had problems over China, not to allow it to land or remain useful for any reason but destroy it by running into the ground. In this case, the people were also the issue, they should have done the right thing and gone down with the plane. One this was an unmanned drone. Two that was part of my point. The Iranins some how took controll of the drone.Yet you still dont see them as a threat.

You think about this for a minute - the nationals security threat that this created was more important than the plane and the crew.Well according to you from above statement there is not much of a threat because the world already knows most of the info on the drone anyway.

Bush did a seriously timid thing when he sent an apology to China in hopes to defuse a problem but by your standards, he should have launched a missile strike and put troops on the ground to take back our spy plane.Your words not mine. Also NEWS FLASH BUSH IS NOT PREISDENT OBAMA IS You always try and bring it back to bush.We get it you dont like Bush. But he is not the man in charge, the guy who wanted the job to help keep america safe anymore is he?Obama is.

So here again is another issue of self-destruction that should have taken place. If the Iranians shot it down in their air space, then the invading them is actually really stupid, and Obama did the right thing. Again they did not shot it down you can tell that by the pics.It sure looks good for a plane that was shot down and crashed landed.

Has anyone noticed that Fox has changed Osama's name to Usama after someone complained that using Osama is too close to Obama? So whats your point??

Chicken Fox - just like the rest of the mass media.

Iran is more of a threat then you will ever admit. And I dont care how bush handled things. He is not the one in charge right now.And yes He and Obama both should have launched missels to destroy the planes.Right now the threat is with Iran and they are the ones who will share our intel with the people who want us all dead.

But the point is this - between the two issues, the Chinese is more damaging and has a more destructive impact.

Having a remote control drone being taken over by what many consider a third world nation illustrates part of the problem we have with ourselves, more like a stupid assumptions that these goat farmers are too dumb to equal our technology. I can't blame Iran for this, it was our fault because we don't seem to get the idea that a lot of the technology we have been using may be used in other things in other parts of the world where we don't have "influence".

but the threat everyone is saying exists (without explaining what that threat is) seems to be actually laughable, Iran is a threat where?

Europe?

The Middle East?

So if the middle east has a problem with Iran, the same group of Arab countries can deal with them as they have with Syria.

You can interchange Iran with North Korea ... which seems most pop up depending on what day of the week is.

The threats we face are both internal and external with our biggest problem being within our infrastructure that is not secured by any means. If we want to create a list of countries that are a threat, we can pretty much put almost all the countries in the world on that list but sorting out which one is more of a threat than the other would be impossible. Iran may be a problem but we are also making it more of a problem for us. At this time we are too much looking for issues to stop people but not putting the effort into fixing the holes that present the biggest problems for us.

As for the drone, the issue has been raised a few times whether or not we should be using these as front line intel gathering tools or return to manned flight units to do the job. In this case the incident provides those opposed to drone operation the fuel needed to bring the issue to those who need to decide, mainly congress. In reality, if this drone was in their air space - we have zero to complain about.
