Barack Obama, in a totally unexpected move, apparently finally realizing his inability to achieve anything not far left, called in former president Clinton to deal with the deadlock on the tax increases. After a closed door session both men went to the press room. Obama made a few moments of statements and then attempted to leave to go to a party. Clinton shamed him into staying but soon thereafter Obama said he was keeping the first lady waiting and left to go to the party. Had it been early in the day instead of nighttime he probably would have had to leave for the golf course.
