Well, you koolaid filled giddy schoolgirls can be happy yet again. That thrill you feel running down your leg is the feeling of WEALTH you will feel if you own a home and sell it. You see, you'll be RICH when you do, even if it's only for one day. Selling your home will subject you to a 3.8% real property sales tax to help fund the health care ripoff program. That's $3800 out of every $100k of sales price. How's that change and hope working for you now koolaiders?

Ooops! Congress loses health care plan under Obamacare?

Clarice Feldman

In what appears to have been a laughable oversight, Congress seems to have stripped itself of its very generous healthcare plan and I don't see how they an undo the damage without conceding (a) they never read the Act before they passed it; and (b) they certainly expect to get better treatment under the law than they are forcing on the rest of us.
Tom Maguire has the details:

However, the language causing the problem is this:
§ 1312(d)(3)(D)(i), specifically requires that:

the only health plans that the Federal Government may make available to Members of Congress and congressional staff with respect to their service as a Member of Congress or congressional staff shall be health plans that are--

(I) created under this Act (or an amendment made by this Act); or (II) offered through an Exchange established under this Act (or an amendment made by this Act).

For new Congressman and staffers to whom this applies, the result is clear, at least after 2014. For incumbents, it is not clear what Congressional intent was, how a court might resolve this, or who would proceed with a suit.

Business as usual.

I heard it on Mark Levins show, he read it along with a few other taxes that we will be hit with from this article:

Health law?s heavy impact - Spokesman.com - March 28, 2010

from the article:

Health law’s heavy impact

Paul Guppy Special to The Spokesman-Review

Tax on Home Sales. Imposes a 3.8 percent tax on home sales and other real estate transactions. Middle-income people must pay the full tax even if they are “rich” for only one day – the day they sell their house and buy a new one.

I found thi link that goes closer to the link that you found Dave:

Oh just wait, this is only the beginning!!! So many people wanted European socialized medicine. Well, now we all get to pay European socialized taxes. Obama's new motto: I have just begun to tax!!!

When we lived in England we just assumed that anything that we bought, out on the "economy", was going to cost double what it did "back in the world" and sometimes three times as much as what it did on base. Most of the difference was in the massive taxes that they paid for free medical care.

There is never going to be enough money to pay for this bill, there will never be enough to pay for it's follow on buddies.

We have not seen taxes in this country like what we are going to see now. As more and more people are put out of work by the high taxes the rest will get reamed with even more.

I can't WAIT to see the look on some peoples face when THEY are stuck with the 98% income tax that was England's highest rate when we arrived there in '76.

People aren't stupid, for the most part. As ever-increasing taxation rolls in like a tidal wave... many folks will conclude it is counterproductive to work. More and more will opt out of the workforce. Taxation is the cancer that will kill the Golden Goose.

LOS... for the first time in my life, I am looking offshore for a better life. IF things get really, really crazy here in the US, as Socialism and social chaos reign, there are English-speaking nations that compare favorably with the US in stability and quality of life. Keep those passports in good order. *L*

(Humbly, I submit the coming demographic changes are unstoppable).

This assumes that people will actually make a profit from the sale of their home. <snort>

I sure will not, at least not for a long time. Oh well, not to worry, he will tax it anyway. I have not yet read that tax but it would NOT surprise me that the tax is on the total amount it sells for, not on just the profit. Just like England was. Profit or loss did not matter. It was NOT an income, or capitol gains tax, it was a "real estate" transaction tax.

Hmmm .... dunno ..... but in the future ya might wanna reconsider using anything from that source, considering the lack of accuracy (maybe it was just the inaccuracy of your reporting ?)

..... of course, if ya start feelin' an irrepressible fit of the giggles comin' on and warmth on that leg, then just let 'er fly .....

I started looking more than 10 years ago .... there's plenty of data out there on 'net about going ex-pat ....

Things don't even have to get really crazy .... there's many places one can go where tax rates are low and your dollar goes far, far further than it does here ....

Keep those passports in good order.
Always good advice ... :D

And I say they are stoppable,as evidenced by the growing number of protests across this country. We are not just going to lay down and let these marxists take over the USA.

If those aren't the exact words, then they're very likely a close paraphrasing of the words of Chief Sitting Bull.

Shawnee Chief Tecumseh is reportedly to have said, "The more things change, the more they stay the same. And not only that, those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. Karma is a beotch."
