That's just great!
regardless of the horrors going on there, any military intervention at all will only result in more people hating the U.S and eventually more terrorist attacks in retaliation on U.S soil and U.S Interests worldwide, resulting in the U.S becoming an even more police state than they already are.

Thankfully Britain, Canada, and Germany have back tracked (for now).

I guess he figures getting approval somehow justifies his actions. :-/

What happens if the congress says no? Any bets on whether or not Obama will order a strike anyway?

You might be right about that Zorry. He may be using congress to save face if he already knows what their answer will be, especially now that he doesn't have the support of the other countries anymore.

In my opinion:

Obama has vacillated over a decision which should have been swift and certain.
The chemical weapon option in Syria has been a known threat for a long time and our President should have been prepared with response scenarios to be implemented as soon as their use was confirmed.
Once again, he appears to be indecisive and unsure of how to move ahead. When he made a weak commitment to a military strike of some sort with no clear objective other than to punish and/or deter further use of chemical weapons he was left hanging alone by major allies.
I believe the decision to seek Congressional approval is now politically motivated in an attempt to get himself out of the corner he painted himself into.

I'm sure he's got some angle going on it. Time will tell us what it is.

Just listened to McCain talk about cratering the runways to stop the daily plane loads of weapons inbound from Russia.
Sounds like a safe start to me.

We have no business there. McCain should know better. So should Obama. What's next? Shooting down Soviet planes? They won't stop sending in supplies. This is a BAD one. It's time to stand back.

I don't follow politics just for this reason.
If i thought out the pro's and con's my head would explode.

My available grey matter is used up daily by the business, wife, kids, and grand-kids.

Right or wrong, I leave this stuff to people that live for politics.

This is beyond politics. This is life and death. It is important to think out the pro's and con's. We have to vote for these people. This one is DANGEROUS. It has the potential to really set things off.

How do we VOTE for these people ?

Shouldn't we go help save these people ?

This is a civil war. We don't belong there. As many have said in the past, we cannot be the world's policeman.

I don't know the answer. All I know is we have lost enough good men and women fighting in places where we don't belong. We cannot afford to lose any more.

The other problem is that we no longer finish what we start. IF we are to commit US forces it should be to fight it, win it and get out. These "extended" conflicts are not what our military, or taxes, are designed to handle.

I talked to a vet on Friday evening. He was recruiting for the VFW. He did a total of 5 tours in Iraq and 2 in Afghanistan. He got out. He stated he just could no longer handle it. I have heard the stories from my son and nephew. From some of my nephew's friends who hunted with us, ALL disabled vets. The worse missing his leg from mid-calf down. My nephew is in constant pain from his injuries and my son is being medically discharged.

Enough is enough. We have NO business taking sides there. What makes it worse is that IF we do go in we will likely end up fighting who we side with.

I don't know what else to say.

Separating Godzilla & Mothra isn't worth one drop of American blood. The rebels are loyal to Al Qaeda. You want to help them out?
