Nuclear vacation

We delivered once to the San Onofre Nuclear Plant on a Saturday. Our next load was'nt picking up until the following Monday about 60 miles away. We really did'nt want to sit at the TA in Ontario,Ca so we seached for a motel around the plant area. There were'nt any available.Since I had never swam in the Pacific (deprived east coast surfer I am) we stopped at San Onofre State Beach only to be told "all parking areas are currently full".

My wife told the park ranger our situation and asked if he knew of any place to stay. He looked at our truck, asked how long it was and if we were self contained. When she answered yes he said "I'll be right back". When he returned a few minutes later he said "you have a campsite waiting just a few miles up at San Clemente State Park two sites over from my motorhome". Awesome! We headed right up and checked in. It was beautiful.

Our site was near the edge of the cliff overlookng the Pacific below. There was a foot path leading down to the beach. Let me tell you, this east coaster thought he had surfed some waves, not even! For dinner that evening we called the pizza place across I-5 from the park and had pizza delivered to our campsite (door to door service). We did have a steady stream of campers walking by our site wondering what an Expedite truck was doing camping amoungst the RV's.

When our buddy the ranger got back to his motorhome for the night he could'nt get his generator to run. We got out the extra power cords and let him plug into our truck so he could watch a game on tv. He was extremely thankful. Overall, ours was a wonderful stay. Try it sometime if you're in the area. Definately beats the TA truckstop!:)
